Chapter 11

If it weren’t for Clary’s face pressed against the window with a huge grin on her face… Sonia was pretty sure that she and Theo could’ve spent another few hours together.

Being in his company, she was comfortable, she knew him on a whole new level and knew she wanted him around for a lot longer than two hours and especially not cooped up in a school parking lot.

Sonia unlocked the doors for Clary, who moved to the back door and jumped in behind the two. Theo was just about to leave to go home when Sonia insisted she dropped him off, especially since he had mentioned he usually took the bus to and from school. Hesitantly, Theo sat back in his seat as the Jeep roared to life. Pulling out of the parking lot, Sonia took the shorted drive to Clary’s house before dropping her off. She wouldn’t stop beaming and winked at Sonia and Theo from her front door.

Theo directed Sonia to his house. Keeping an eye on the time, she noticed that Theo lived a good half hour away from the school by drive. Theo pointed to an old looking double story house which had a concrete path to the front doors, or door, since the fly screen door was hanging off its hinges.

“I know it’s not much but… Its home… for now. I plan to move out once I’m old enough.” Theo looked down , his eyes dropping, looking almost ashamed of calling this house his home. Understanding the words, Sonia just nodded silently.

“Do you want to come to my house for a while?” Sonia bit her lip, she knew it was a shot in the dark, but it, he, was worth it. “Run inside, grab some clothes so you can warm up at my house, it’s the least I can do for keeping me company today.” What she said was true, Theo could’ve easily turned her down and left her in her car alone for those two hours. And she knew he deserved better, much better for the great guy she saw him as.

“No, it’s okay, really, you’ve already driven me home. I’d be imposing.” Theo went to get out of the Jeep without even looking at her.

“That’s what you’re worried about? It didn’t stop you last night…” She let her words speak for her with a trace of a challenge; she knew it would be enough for him to change his mind. A cheeky smile played on her lips, one hand tapping her fingers on the steering wheel and the other of the gear stick.

Theo let out a laugh. “Alright, fine, let me get a few things and I’ll be back out in five minutes.” He looked back towards the car as he walked to the front door and disappeared from her sight. Excited, Sonia called Clary. She answered half way through the first ring.

“ohmygod Clary he is the most fantastic, funniest guy ever. Thank you so much for giving him my address last night! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I’m waiting at his house now, he’s gone in and will out in a couple minutes, and we’re going back to mine. I love you.”

“I saw the way you looked at him, and after what Nat told me about you today, practically jumping out of you seat blushing like a lunatic. I saw you walk out the door though, before she told me, and you just followed him like a lost puppy. You two looked so cute together so once you were outside, me and Jack locked you two out.” The last part Clary all but whispered as Sonia raised her eyebrows.

“Well then…”

“Please don’t hate me!” Clary exclaimed.

“Actually, I was going to say I love you for it. Anyway, he’s coming back now, bye! Wish me luck!”

“Go get some!” Sonia could vividly see Clary winking.

Putting her phone away, Sonia looked out the window and practically gasped at the sight, her lips separating in awe. She saw Theo, walking towards her. He had slung a bag over his shoulder and now donned a very retro leather jacket. The afternoon sunlight bounced around in his eyes, hitting all the right parts on his face, highlighting his jaw line, his hair looking soft, like a brown cloud, even though they didn’t exist. That’s what he looked like, something straight out of a fantasy novel in which only perfect guys exist. The smile her shot her, approaching her jeep was nearly blinding. It was like everything around Sonia had disappeared and it was just them and the closing distance. When he reached the car, he threw his bag into the back and took a seat in the passenger seat.
