     Hopefully, Gin doesn't kill me.

I glance at Alex, while driving the van further into a questionable district on the other side of the city. I can see the excitement beaming off of the usually calm doctor. Since Gin returned from her date a two nights ago, she's calmed down quite a bit. She's still patrolling part of the night but has been eating and sleeping regularly again. Alex has been over a lot to train with, or just to see, her, making a huge difference.

This morning started off hectically when a local spirit named Art came rushing in, literally through the door with a rushed, "Where's Gin?"

While my sister had still been in her room, the rest of us were enjoying breakfast in the kitchen. The ghost's yell startled Peter, falling out of his chair while Carter looked around in confusion. There had been a disagreement between neighbors, a warlock and an animal shifter, both of whom were a little messed up because of it. Gin hurried out after Art soon after, mostly to help resolve the issue before it could escalate to something worse.

After cleaning up breakfast, Bowden and Dylan left for the abandoned warehouse to go train, the halfling's control has increased so much that I haven't needed the fire extinguisher in over a week. I was just about to settle in to monitoring DemGen, when Office Cordova called me. I've been working with Peter trying to hack into more information about the serum used on the human woman, but the corporation has all that information well hidden.

Cordova knows some of our issues with DemGen as we've been filling him in as best we can, it always helps to have someone with some authority to know what's going on in case we draw too much human attention. He mentioned that he felt one of the demons at a bar called Cavern's, located in this sketchy neighborhood, last night. It's still too early for it to be open, but Alex and I are going to scope out the area and check for stake out points. Gin is still busy and I'm afraid of letting this lead disappear.

I know the area from checking several map sources, but Cordova already warned me that if there are any security cameras in this area, they are just for show. It should be relatively safe to go in the sunlit morning hours to do a little research and Gin can come scope out the scene later tonight.

I was hesitant to bring Alex along, but he convinced me that it will help him with his training. I know that he's taken a leave of absence from work, to devote himself in his new role as Gin's soulmate, so its not like I can begrudge the guy this opportunity for some field work. We'll probably be back before Gin is, this shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. Plus, Alex will be able to sense trouble as well as me, maybe even stronger actually, and can stay clear of danger.

Peter is going to keep working on hacking DemGen, along with Carter, while keeping an eye on Gin for me. She isn't in any kind of dangerous situation, but it's always a precaution. Sometimes, she just needs some information checked on.

I find a place to park about a half a mile away from the bar Cordova told me about. Grabbing my gear, Alex and I start to make our way around the neighborhood. There are several buildings across from Cavern's, none of which are ideal or easy to use as a stake out point. We end up over a block away, near an apartment complex that is tall enough to spot the bar from. Alex boosts me up enough to pull down the fire escape ladder.

It's a good thing he's pretty tall, because this ladder swung down from a hinge and took me atop Alex's shoulders on my knees in order to reach. Gin must be half-gymnast and half-ape to get up onto these things by herself. While the fire escapes equipped on these older places are extremely handy, if two men attempting to climb up a building using them in broad daylight and no one seems to call the cops, it's probably a lot safer for them to go out of style.
