Setting my laptop aside on the bed with disinterest, I'm careful not to wake up Dylan. The halfling seems to have fallen asleep in a chair next to me last night. Aside from my wounds from the kidnapping, I just feel slightly hungover. The places where the darts hit me are a little bruised, but otherwise I don't think the serum affected me, so it must have been the energy disruptant intended for supernaturals.
I was only slightly surprised to have woken up in my old bedroom, back home at my parent's house. Gin must have moved all of us here for safety reasons. The rest of the house seemed to be asleep and I didn't bother leaving the room, just looked around the room until I found my old laptop. I checked the news but didn't find any leaks of exposure about us. The date shows that I slept through the rest of that day and all of the next.
Placing one hand on my chest, I could feel my heartbeat still, but otherwise I can't seem to feel any of my own emotions right now. Is it the shock of everything? I know that the bracelet is off. Otherwise, I'd feel Bowden, or he'd be here. It seems that, in the end, using my body did release the demon.
There's a lot of plans to make now. We have to deal with Rosemary and her growing army. Also, one of the most infamous demons is loose now and knows everything about us. Laying back down, I can't bring myself to care about any of that.
I close my eyes and will myself to go back to sleep, my lack of emotions allowing me to drift off peacefully. My last thoughts are that if I see Bowden again, it will be because he comes to kill me.
Maybe he'll succeed before Gin takes him out.
The morning brought a lot of tears as my emotional detachment of the middle of the night wore off. I awoke in the early dawn to a terrifying rush of emotions, causing me to stifle my sobs into my pillow. I managed to pull myself together when Dylan drifted awake beside me. Then it was Dylan, followed by Gin, who were crying. Alex thankfully was in doctor mode, carefully checking over my wounds.
"Are you okay?" I ask him as he finishes up. Gin is still wiping tears sitting in the chair next to me, while Dylan pulled himself together and went to go help with breakfast. It feels like weeks since I left Alex on that fire escape. Alex moves to place a comforting hand on Gin's shoulder before answering.
"I'm fine. I didn't really have much time to struggle, that Weston guy grabbed me and I was tied up pretty fast. I think I was brought into the basement levels, it didn't look like any of DemGen we'd seen before, but I only saw the room I was in. They didn't even say anything to me, just kept me there until we headed upstairs to Weston's office. I first saw Rosemary when we exited the elevator."
"So, they've been watching us and pretty stealthily too."
"They probably had regular humans tailing us," Gin joins in, pulling on the professional mask of the chosen one, "Otherwise, they never could have gone unnoticed this far."
