Walking into the bar, Jimin expected nothing but a normal night with his members. Nothing except spending time with the six boys he had grown so close to over the years. He was beyond excited. It was rare that they got to go out and enjoy a night all together, not thinking about work or comebacks or anything. Well, they still had to think about those things as they were filming the FESTA dinner party, but they knew that once the cameras were off, they could just continue to party away. They could be themselves, joke around, relive memories, talk about everything and anything. These were his favorite moments that he shared with the group. He figured that it would end up being a great night.
But then he saw her, and everything changed in an instant.
It felt like there was a black hole inside of him, pulling him toward her. He looked away as soon as he could because he could feel his eyes being tethered to her. He feared for what would happen if they met hers. He was so overwhelmed with emotions. He was starting to sweat. But there was something within the intensity of the various emotions that were consuming him, rippling through his body at that exact moment. Something that he knew very well.
Love.
He couldn't believe it. This love at first sight bullshit. He wanted to laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
He had expected something like this to happen, as all of the other members had already experienced their side effects. But he had hoped that maybe he would luck out, that he would be able to escape the inevitable. However, it was here, and it was taking him by storm.
He wanted to look at her so bad. Everything in him was telling him to lift his head, but he was petrified about what effect her eyes would have on him. It already felt like his heart was beating out of his chest from irrepressible excitement.
When he heard her voice as she spoke her name, he couldn't help but smile sheepishly, a blush spreading across his face. Her voice was the cliche kind of music to his ears. Her name was perhaps the prettiest he had ever heard. He replayed it a couple times in his head. For just that moment he was able to ignore the army of emotions set out to destroy him.
He pulled himself back to reality and listened as all of the other members introduced themselves, gulping down his nervousness, knowing he would have to look up at some point.
He felt Jungkook hit his back and his head shot up. His eyes locked with hers like they were magnets. He could feel the hair stand up on the back of his neck. But the longer he looked at her, the more at ease he felt. He stepped forward and extended his hand, fighting so hard to not shake nervously during the handshake. When her hand wrapped around his, chills rippled through his entire body.
He'd blow his cover when he'd try to speak, stumbling and sputtering over his words. Nice one, Jimin. Way to go. Smoooth.
He'd step back, but his eyes would still be locked on hers. He couldn't tell what she was thinking. She was looking back at him, but her eyes weren't telling him what she was feeling. But the fact that she was at least looking back was somewhat reassuring to him, comforting to him. His heart started to beat a little calmer.
Then she looked away, and it started all over again. The nervousness, the shaking, the intense heartbeat. He wanted nothing more for her to look back, but that was not something he could make her do. At least not yet.
She took them to the table, and Jimin quickly rushed to his seat. He wanted to get the alcohol in his system as fast as he could in the hopes that it would reverse some of his dilemma.
The broadcast began, and Jimin ate and drank, still trying to catch her eye any chance he could get. And when she would look back at him, the world would stop spinning and he could breathe right again. As long as she was looking at him, everything reverted back to normal. But as soon as she looked away, he'd fall back into an uncomfortable state of temptation that urged him toward her.
