The Last Reason

-Ashton's Point of View-

I saw it.

I saw it all.

Lilly hated herself.

She thought everybody hated her, so she left. This is what I remember:

She texted me asking me to come over.

"What is it?" I asked when I came.

She kisses me one last time. It wasn't the kind of kiss that she would normally give me. I could sense her sadness. She wasn't happy with herself.

"Goodbye, Ashton." She said to me, with many tears raining from her eyes, down to her cheeks.

"Lilly..?"

She made her way upstairs to her room.

"Lilly! Stop!"

I ran up the stairs to stop whatever she was about to do. She looked back at me and more tears came. I couldn't help myself. I stood in my tracks and broke down crying.

"No, no, no." I mumbled.

I had to stop her. I ran up the rest of the stairs to her room when I saw her sitting on her bed.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked her. You could hear the tears in my voice.

Lilly didn't say anything. She just looked at me.

Now here I am.

At her funeral.

We got up to pay our respects. I walked with my head hung down, ready to cry.

"You were good to her." I looked up to see Lilly's mom with her hand on my shoulder.

"I tried to stop her....."

"It's okay-"

"No it's not! She's gone! Lilly's fucking gone!"

Everybody was staring at me but I didn't care. I ran to the restroom.

I looked into the mirror to see my reddened eyes.

I did this. This shit is all my fault. If I didn't let her go this wouldn't have happened.

I went back to the main room to see Lilly's coffin.

"I love you, Lilly. And I'm sorry for all this shit. I know it's all my fault. I'm such a dumbass."

I was the last one to see her before they buried her.

"You're the reason."

"The only reason."❤️
