Chapter 6: I Thought You'd Never Ask

>Nathan's POV<

*Dream*

In a large circle, all the tributes are all positioned for the packs. I immediately put my eyes on a pack with a bow and a quiver of arrows. My definite advantage to the games!! Back at the Capitol, Cato was supposed to prove me how sorry he was, but blew me off. I guess he can't wait to kill my sorry a**. I look around, seeing Katniss and Peeta divide by 1 tribute from District 4. They stare at me and nod. I nod back and then cock my head towards the forest for cover. They nod and look back to the packs.

I then realize Rue is right next to me. I whisper to her, "Rue. Katniss, Peeta, and I are going to head to the woods. You immediately sprint there and we will follow you behind once we get some packs." She nods and changes her position. President Snow announces, "Let the countdown.... BEGIN!!" Then there is a projection in the middle of the human ring. 5....4....3....2....1....0. The bell rings and I sprint, getting a head start out of everyone. Katniss and Peeta are almost 3 feet away from the packs. When I grab mine, a boy from District 6 grabs the same pack.

We both pull to get the pack. Sheesh he is strong. Then he stops and looks at me wide eyed. Blood trickles down his mouth and fall forward, and loses the grip on the pack, and I fling it over my shoulder. Then I looked into his eyes. That monster with his grin spread across his face. Then I hear Peeta yell, "COME ON NATHAN!! LET'S GO!!" I then sprint in Peeta's direction. I sprint up to Peeta, and we both sprint to meet up with Katniss and Rue. The Rue says, "I'll be up in the trees for look out okay. I'll do the mocking jay call. I'll send it ever 10 minutes later. If It's more than 10 minutes, come and look for me. Okay?" We all look at each other and nod.

(20 Minutes Later)

Peeta, Katniss, and I hear a horrid scream. RUE!! "RUE!! WHERE ARE YOU!!" I scream. "NATHAN!! HELP ME!!" Katniss and I ready my bow and arrow, and quickly try to find Rue. We split up with a 250 meter distance. I then catch a net with a body in there struggling. IT'S RUE!! I sprint and call, "Katniss, Peeta!! I found her. Help me with this!!" I then start to get the net off. When I get if off, I lift her up. Then she says, "Thanks so much Nathan. I didn't know what to-" Then an arrow comes from above, hitting her in the chest. She falls and I scream, "NO!!"

Then I pull back my arrow, and finally caught the person who shot her. I release the arrow and hit the girl who was up in a tree, and falls to the ground. She groans painfully and then Peeta and Katniss come to help me with Rue. "Stay with me Rue." Katniss says. I then get up and approach Peeta and grab his knife and move up to the girl and put the knife against her throat and say, "Who sent you?"

I look at her and its Glimmer, from District 1. She coughs and says, "The Career tributes, just like you. They are just behind by a bit." Then without thought, I slice her throat and stab her heart. I give the knife back to Peeta and aid Rue. Her breathing is uneasy, and then she says, "Nathan, Katniss, Peeta, you have to win. Promise?" I nod as the tears fall from my face. We all embrace her as her final breathe leaves her mouth. We put her down, and leave the scene. The hovercraft then picks up Glimmer and Rue as we leave the scene.

It's getting dark and we are all tired. I then say, "We need to rest somewhere no one will find us." Then Peeta says, "Well look around. It's nothing but forest. There is no way we will-" Then Peeta falls over. Shit they are on our tails. Katniss and I start to sprint. I would go back and avenge Peeta, who is probably dead now, but there are probably too many of them. Then we see a large pile of huge rocks surrounded by trees. Katniss and I sprint as fast as we can and reach the destination.

Then we hear footsteps and yelling. It's Cato, "GAH!! WHERE COULD THOSE TWO HAVE GONE!!" Then another male voice said, "Calm down Cato, we will soon find them and eliminate them inhumanely as possible." Then Cato shouts, "NO!! FAG!! WE NEED TO FIND THEM NOW!! I NEED TO KILL THAT PRICK WHO TORE MY HEART!!" I got really angry, and then they start to walk away. Then I ready my bow and arrow and then Katniss whispers, "Don't do this!! We have to figure something-"
