Chapter 14: Feels Good To Be Home (Epilogue)

>Nate’s POV<

            Slowly the train came to a stop at District 2. Then the laughter that was all lively had stopped. I then stood up, giving everyone a hug. I kneeled down hugging Rue and said, “Stay strong okay?” She looked into my eyes and nodded. I then got back up, and then gave Thresh a strong, bro hug. “I want you to protect Rue for me. Okay?” I said, and he nodded in reply. I looked around, trying to find Cato, but he already was out.

            I looked at Katniss, and hugged her tightly. “I’m going to miss you.” Katniss said. I held her closer and reply, “I’m going to miss you. Hopefully we’ll see each other again okay?”  Katniss and I released our embrace, and left to give Peeta a big goodbye. I looked around helplessly trying to find him. I then look out of the back of the train, seeing Peeta in the back cabin of the train.

            I quickly rush out, and then yell, “Peeta!!” He looks at me and I jump at him, giving him a huge hug. “Why are you doing this?” Peeta asks. I look in his eyes and tell him, “I don’t want to leave my first kiss without a proper goodbye.” He smiles and he hugs me back tightly and warm embrace. I looked into his blue eyes, full of sorrow.

            I gave him a smile and then smashed my lips against his. Hopefully no cameras were on us, but I doubted it. Our lips softly moved in sync. I just wanted him to have good last feelings before we parted, and hopefully not for long. I released my lips from him and he gave me a smile. I then gave him another hug and kissed him on the cheek.

(2 Minutes Later)

            After grabbing my stuff, I hopped off the train, where the cameras where all on me and in the distance waiting was Cato, his family, my family, and all the other people who lived in my District. “Congratulations Nate on your win with Cato in the 74th Annual Hunger Games! What are you going to do now?” I smiled at the interviewer and said, “Well I’m probably just going back to my normal life. Live in my home, and go back to go from where I left off.”

“Well congratulations Nate on your victory with Cato and we hope to see you in the next choosing of the District 2 Tributes.” The interviewer said before the cameras turned off and the camera men and interviewers filed into the train. Then I heard the train start to move. I looked back, seeing all the other tributes wave goodbye to me. I then saw Peeta, with his teeth bright and pearly. I gave them all a wave before they have disappeared.

I then started walking home. The town I was born, raised, and trained. I missed home so much. I got a lot of hugs, and solutes from the people of my district. As I approached home, I saw Niall waiting for me with a huge gigantic smile on his face. When I got closer, his eyes were full of tears of happiness. “What’s going on?” He hugged me shortly and said, “Come inside I think you will be surprised.

I then opened the door to my house, and walked upstairs. I opened the door when I was attacked by a flash of golden fur. I looked down and saw a golden retriever puppy in front of me, with its eyes twinkling. Whose dog was this?!?! I then placed my suitcases of clothes on my bed and rushed downstairs. Then I entered the kitchen and asked, “Mom. There is a dog in our house whose dog is-.” My words stopped and the man whose back was facing to me turned around.

I was so shocked for words. How could he be standing in front of me? The only thing that my voice could make out was, “Dad?!?!”

(Hours Later)

>Peeta’s POV<

            Katniss and I hopped off train and our families smothered us with hugs of worry. Katniss then head off home with her family, and I was still being smothered by my mother. “Oh what a nice boy that Nate was. I don’t know what I would have done without you Peeta!!” My mother sobbed. She finally let go and my dad held me into a warm embrace. We walked back to our bakery.

            The town was bustling and I got a bit of ‘congratulations’ and ‘you were lucky’ from people passing by. We finally entered my family bakery. The aroma of baked bread and other baked goods filled my nose. I missed this bakery. “Oh and Peeta. You have a guest who is waiting for you in your room.” My mother said. Oh gosh it’s him. I walked upstairs.

            I took a deep breath, and opened the door. Looking out my window was a shirtless, hot guy with beautiful brown hair and bright blue eyes. “You been gone a while.” His deep voice said. “Gale. What are you-.” I say, but he cuts me off and says, “I’m here to see you. Why else?” He puts his arm on the wall, just above my head and says, “I miss you boo.” I smile and he smashes his lips against mine.
