(the death cure: spoilers)
Your POV:
"I'm so sorry, y/n," A tear trailed down his cheek, and I quickly wiped it away.
"Newt, none of this is your fault. You know I'm going to be here for you always. We will find you a cure," I gripped his hand tightly. Tears were coming from my eyes, but I didn't bother wiping my cheeks.
We were sitting at the edge of an abandoned building, while the rest of the group was inside. I was so shocked when Newt had told me he was infected. I didn't believe it until he showed me his arm.
"I love you so much, y/n, but I don't think there's any chance of me getting a cure," I felt him squeeze my hands, reminding me of when we first met.
I met him at the WCKD facility, my first night of getting out of the maze. I was one of 6 that made it out, and was the only girl in my maze. It was traumatic enough for me in the maze, that I found it hard to trust anybody at WCKD.
One night, making my way to my room, I bumped into Newt. Literally. I assumed he did it on purpose, but I was too scared to confront him. But he was quick to apologize, and we started a small conversation then it kept growing.
The same night, I was back in my room and all of a sudden the alarms went off. I was curious of what was happening, even though the protocol was to stay in our rooms. At the moment I opened the door, I saw Newt along with a small group of others.
They ran straight past me, but all of a sudden Newt appeared right in front of me. He was out of breath from running. He told me they were going to escape, and he asked me to go with them.
I snapped out of my flashback then looked at the love of my life sitting in front of me.
"No matter what happens, y/n, I don't want you to ever forget me," Newt tucked a lose strand of hair behind my ear.
"Never," I gave him a small smile.
