Your POV:

"What do you see in there, Newt?" I asked eagerly, shoving my way through a crowd of ignorant guys. I found my best friend Carrie at the front of the crowd. We, along with the other few girls in the glade, hoped it was another girl.

"Just another ugly shank," I heard Gally chuckle behind me. I rolled my eyes and looked into the box.

"I don't know what Gally's talking about the greenie is easy on the eyes," Carrie whispered from my left. She wasn't wrong. There was a boy in the box, dark haired and tall. He was standing up and didn't seem that afraid. Confused and on guard, yes.

There was a brief moment when my eyes connected with his dark ones and it gave me a tight feeling in my chest. He tore his eyes off me and faced Newt who was in the box with him.

-

"Y/N!" I turned around to see Alby and Newt, followed by the new Greenie.

"Greenie, this is Y/N. Y/N, I was wondering if you'd give our new recruit the official tour." Alby asked, introducing me.

"Of course," I smiled, guiding the newbie to the glade. Things were going quite smoothly, since he wasn't talking much. This gave me the ability to just talk about everything.

Just as we were heading back to Alby, the greenie quickly spoke up.

"Whats over there?" He pointed to the wall, not making eye contact while talking.

"Oh, um. We're not allowed to—" I was quickly cut off .

"That wasn't what I asked," he said in a louder voice. I jumped a little at his sudden change of voice. Without thinking twice, the greenie sprinted towards the west gates.

And me not thinking twice, ran after him, screaming at the top of my lungs for him to stop. I was able to gain enough strength to leap forward, tackling him to the ground.

Well, not tackle, but enough of a distraction for him to tumble down.

"What's going on?" A too familiar voice yelled, making me quickly scramble to my feet.

"Alby! I just— he just—" I was once again cut off.

"I saw y/n tackle the shank over here. Just jumped right on him and dragged him down." Gally.

"That is so not true!" I defended. I looked at the greenie for backup but he only stood up and said nothing.

"One night in the slammer. Both of you." Alby sighed. He took a step closer to me and said in a lower voice that only I could hear, "Sorry, y/n. I gotta do what I gotta do to." He sighed

I knew exactly what he was talking about. Alby and I were close friends, and in the past, he's been accused of favoritism and was lenient when it came to me breaking some rules.

When it came time, I hoped in a slammer with the greenie, since all the other ones were occupied.

"Sorry about earlier," the newbie quietly mumbled. He was standing, leaned against one of the walls, while I sat cross-legged on the floor.

"That's alright, I don't blame you." I sighed.

"Is this entire place where you all live?" He asked. I nodded.

"How long have you all been here?" He asked another question. Was I like this when I first got here.

"3 years," I said simply. I watched his body stiffen up, then slowly sin until he sat on the ground, at the opposite side of the pit as me.

"So it's like... some sort of prison." I could see his eyes starting to water every time the light from the torch outside would flicker. He then rested his head on his knees.

I couldn't stand watching him like this. I quietly got up and say right next to him. I gently put my left hand on his back. At first he tended up, but slowly relaxed, leaning on me a little.

I don't remember much after since I slowly started to fall asleep.

"They're kind cute," I heard a British boy whisper. Newt. I suddenly realized how warm I was. Like I was hugging a bear...

My eyes were still closed but I felt the presence of people around me. My eyes quickly shot open, scaring the people in-front of me. Newt, Frypan, and Alby jumped back, gasping.

I went to rub my eyes when I realized there was something around my arm. Another arm. I looked to my left and saw the greenie.

I quickly got up, waking up the greenie in the process.

"Just wanted to let you guys now you're free to uh, go now." Alby said awkwardly. Once he hopped out of the pit, Fry and Newt followed suite.

"Hey, er, thanks for comforting me last night..." the greenie said looking at the ground.

I blushed a little. "No problem." I looked at him and he looked up, connecting our eyes.

Before I could blink he quickly planted his lips on mine. It was a brief kiss but still made my heart race.

We were both silent after that, but after what happened in the pit, I knew things would be different.
