Rebekah's POV

I felt so bad that I ruined Malia's party. I should have known that my brother would say something, he's not one to keep his mouth shut. I looked at Malia who was glaring at Elijah from across the room. "Malia, I'm so sorry that I ruined your party."

Malia looked at me with sadness in her eyes. "Rebekah, you didn't ruin the party, your brother did. But it's okay, we're still going to have a good night."

I frowned and looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry, I should have expected this to happen."

Malia grabbed me by the back of my neck and kissed me passionately. I kissed her back just as passionately, her soft lips crushing mine. I smiled into the kiss and laid my forehead on hers. "I love you so much, Rebekah, no matter what."

I blushed and closed my eyes. "I love you too, Malia, more than you'll ever know."

Malia kissed my nose and whispered softly. "Let's get this party over with so we can go home."

I looked at Malia and nodded my head. I wanted nothing more than for this party to end so I can go home and mentally prepare Malia for when Niklaus comes. No doubt, it'll be sooner rather than later. Niklaus wasn't one to wait, he never was. I cleared my throat and walked over to the table that was set up with gifts for Malia. She was lucky that she had friends that loved her so much, I kind of envied her for it honestly. I never had any friends that would last long enough around my brothers, they all got killed or scared off. I'm not even jealous over the gifts, I'm just jealous that she is loved so much. "Guys, Malia wants to get this going so she can go home."

Everyone gathered around the table where Malia sat, she pulled me next to her and made me sit down. I smiled at her and placed my hand on her thigh. She looked at me and smiled. "I want to say thank you guys for the gifts, but they are not necessary. I know you guys missed us but us being home, surrounded by friends and family is good enough."

Kol rolled his eyes. "Just open the bloody presents."

Malia growled lowly but didn't say anything. I just shook my head and handed her a small gift bag from Kol. I already knew what was in there, it was a house. Hopefully, one that she will deny. I want our first house together to be bought by me, to be something special. I wanted our house to be something that we picked out together, not something that was given to us out of pity. Malia took the bag from me and opened it. She looked at Kol confused. "It's a realtor's card?"

Kol smiled sheepishly. "Well, I didn't want to just go out and buy you guys a house so I found you the best realtor around, she'll work outside of Mystic Falls as well, if that's what you choose. I knew that Rebekah would want your first house to be very very special and have a deep meaning so I thought that this would be better. It's a thank you gift, for keeping my sister happy. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time and I'm glad that it's you that she chose. I'm happy for you both and wish you two nothing but the best. Here's to the both of you, I wish you both happiness."

Malia looked at me with a grin on her face. She looked at Kol. "Thank you so much, Kol. This means a lot to me and Rebekah both."

Kol smiled. "Of course, anything for my baby sister and her lover."

Malia blushed and moved into my lap, laying her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close. I kissed the top of her head and smiled brightly. "You want to open the rest of them?"

Malia looked back at the table that consisted of gifts, she opened them, they mostly contained new clothes and gift cards. By the time that we were done at the grill, Malia was worn out and half asleep. I had to carry her to the car while she softly snored. I held her the entire ride home. I figured that tomorrow was the day that Niklaus would come, the day that I'm regretting the most. I'm not looking forward to it at all. But I know one thing, I will do anything for Malia to be happy and safe, for her to be happy. I just want the best for her, even if that means that she leaves me for her own safety. I know that she will never do it willingly, of course, and I don't want her too but there is no way that I could go on the run again. There's no way that I could ask her to do that, maybe I need to put a stop to Niklaus and maybe, just maybe, I won't have too, Maybe Hope was enough to keep him busy and focused on something other than Malia. Hopefully, I'll be that lucky but I'm not counting on it, I'm counting on fighting for her and I would do so until my last breath.
