Stalkers

After Ned's rather embarrassing attempt to escape my parents, (Mom joined in halfway through, looking ten times scarier than Dad did when I told her about him posting the picture of me throwing an icicle at Chad that spurred my decision to go to the Isle) I wander through the school grounds while everything stays sunshiny and sparkles.

And I almost smile thinking how much Sera would have complained.

Will. Not would have. She's not gone.

Just... Asleep.

I sigh and tuck my hair behind my ears. We gathered people. We won. We won. But why does it feel like everything is worse than ever before?

If I could just get Shrimpy back. Back to the Isle. Back to where that stinking girl belongs.

Though I guess I'm being unfair. Uma seemed to struggle with her choice when she was cornered on the boat during Cotillion. But then her necklace had glowed and she'd jumped.

I shudder, remembering how she'd dragged me under the water.

When will this be over? When do we win?

I lean against the nearest tree and drag my hands down my face. I need... I need to find out what I can do about Sera. But Brit said there was nothing...

Uma. And Ares. I can get them.

I push off the tree, stalking across the yard, and in my anger I don't even notice the flash of red that I should have seen in the corner of my eye.

~Uma's view~ (This is new for me. Bear with meh!)

I glare at Ares. "You're sure this was the right choice to make, Ares?"

He glares right back. "Sure. We needed a fast getaway, righ'?"

I turn back to watch that stupid white-haired freak stomp across the lawn. "Oh, I don't care 'bout that choice. I meant comin' back here."

"Trust me. Ice Pop there'll come lookin' fer us. I want her powers."

"Why hers?"

"Do you got any idear how rare snow powers are? Ever since that bloody stupi' goddess Khione drew back her blessings, less an' less people have 'em." He pushes a branch aside from the bush we're hiding in to watch Ellie open the castle door and slip inside.

I almost snort thinking back to that near-fight scene I'd seen with Queen Elsa, Hades, and that idiot Ned. I can't believe I trusted him to keep the pictures of Elicia hidden for leverage. I'm just glad nobody found out it was me and Harry giving him the pictures of Elicia's tour on the Isle.

"So we're just following her around until.... what?" I demand.

"Until she's alone."

"She was alone a minute ago, you moron!" I almost yell. But I dial my voice back a bit. "Why didn't we get her then? And what difference will her powers make, anyway?"

He glares at me again. "You're kiddin', right?"

"Nope."

He points to the doors Icy disappeared behind. "She has no idea what her powers are capable of. If my uncle is her dad, mixed with Elsa's power, she's virtually unstoppable if she would use 'em right. She has more capabilities than she realizes."

"Like what?"

"Well, fer instance, she can track specific souls. So, if she could figure that out, she could find us like," he snaps, "that. Heat signatures, too, so nobody can ever sneak up on her."
