(Emmett's Point Of View)
"Wendell, and Emmett. What can I do for you guys?" The physician looked up from her desk just as Wendell and I made it inside the infirmatory.
"I need your help, Emmett's been having seriously bad perception issues. He had knocked a glass off the sink but he could still see it and when we came across Lucien in the hallway..Emmett couldn't see him at all even though he was facing straight at him." Wendell looked at me briefly and back to the physician.
"Take a seat for me will you sweetpea" She nodded to the chair sitting against the wall, I reluctantly parted from Wendell and sat down in the chair.
"Have you had any headaches?" She knelt down to my level to flash a penlight into my eyes.
"Yes, but I am a fértile so it's normal" I winced scrunching my eyes shut at the burning of my irises, since when were people allowed lasers to examine peoples eyes.
"Any muscle pain?" She asked lifting my arm up to test the muscle strength.
"My shoulder" I nodded to the arm she was currently holding up "It's not the muscle, it's the tattoo on it." I added trying to shift my arm.
"Could you maybe remove your shirt?" She dropped my arm and sat back to look me over again, I groaned internally and tugged my shirt over my head and dropped it into my lap. The physician pulled my arm forward so she could get a clear view of the tattoo "Oh gosh." She gasped turning me fully to examine my shoulder.
"Is this bad?" I gulped feeling her hands prodding all over my shoulder.
"You need to go see Ellie immediately." She stood up abruptly to jog over to the phone sitting on her desk.
"Tell us why we need to" Wendell grunted as I shakily pulled my shirt back on.
"Because this mark could be killing your friend." She snapped impatiently jamming more numbers into the phone.
"Well, good enough for me. Let's go" He grabbed the back of my shirt and pulled me up from the chair ignoring my protests that I could walk on my own.
"Emmett! There you are." I heard Vincent running towards us from across the foyer panting loudly.
"We need to get Emmett to the hospital, your boss' little tattoo is probably going to fucking kill him!" Wendell barked angrily, I hadn't heard Wendell this distressed in years. I never I was THAT important to him.
"I feel fine. I don't need to go" I grumbled folding my arms in frustration.
"Bullshit. Let's go" Vincent grabbed my other sleeve and in a joint effort I was dragged out of the branch and into Vincent's car.
"You people annoy me" I pouted slumping further down into the backseat.
"At least we care about you, unlike that asshole that put the mark on him in the first place then abandoned you!" Wendell clenched his hands into fists on his knees.
"He had no choice, it was just what the natural order said. When I first went outside he touched my shoulder then the natural orders all like 'Yeah this charming canniving son of a bitch is your eternal soul partner" I bit down on my bottom lip trying to fight the hot burning forming in my eyes.
"It's okay Emmett it's not your fault" Wendell sighed resting his hand over my knee and squeezing it gently as a sign of pity.
"It is my fault, I allowed myself to let this person in and like every other time I get it thrown back at me. Now I can't even talk my best friend" I dropped my head back against the headrest.
"He knows about you and Lucien dating, don't you remember speaking to him over the video cam?" Wendell cocked his head at me as if I was some sort of weirdo.
"No..I never did that." I shook my head adamently, I do remember a small blackout a week or so back. Could he be so cruel as to drug me and talk to Nick? But then what would be the motive behind it.
"You were there, and you seemed pretty aware. Did Lucien give you any sort of drink within the last few weeks?" Vincent peered back at me through the rearview mirror.
"Just that crap he had in his coffee mug when I..stayed over." I fought the embarassing blush creep up the back of my neck to my hairline.
"The tonic and coffee, did he say what was in it?" Vincent persisted trying to keep an eye on the road and myself at the same time.
"Siren Blood, Lavender and Myrrh" I shrugged nonchalantly, I had already found out that Siren Blood combats against Nethers so no wonder why it almost murdered me.
"Myrrh, The ultimate memory erasing element in demonoid history. Of course he could get his hands on that." Vincent growled gripping the steering wheel between his hands.
"Why would he do it? He has no motive" I protested refusing to believe that Lucien had a sinister motive behind trying to get close to me.
"Because Nick knows where the demonoid book is and possibly even the werewolf one. You being his best friend was an easy bargaining chip, he brought you in to talk to Nick and all that then when you left the Myrrh kicked in and you forgot. Lucien could of threatened to do something to you" Vincent pulled the car to a stop sighing tiredly and resting his head forward.
"What's this got to do with my condition?" I grumbled crossing my arms firmly.
"I got off track, that for one could be some of the reasons to your mental deterioration. But the pain in your shoulder and the headaches is the tattoo, the natural order told you that you were Lucien's and when he was forced onto Lux they have to kill off the true mate and break the emotional tether for the false marriage to go ahead." Vincent threw open the door and stormed off towards the hospital.
"Let's go. We can save you, No way we're gonna let you die." Wendell shook his head furiously climbing out of the car and pull me out with him, I stumbled my way into the hospital behind Wendell who was searching for Vincent. We searched up and down the hallways until we found a figure take a swing at another man.
"Vincent stop!" I yelped sprinting toward the pair grabbing onto Vincent's upper arm to try and pull him off of the other person.
"He deserves it!" Vince snarled throwing another left hook at the man, Wendell grabbed Vincent's other arm and yanked him away from the man. I had to swallow the sick feeling in my throat when Lucien stood up bloodied and bruised to no end cradling his wrist in his hand and I could actually see him this time.
"What is going on here!" A furious yell cut through me like a knife and I knew the she-devil doctor had witnessed what had just unfolded "This is a hospital with other people here and I will not tolerate rough housing from you of all people Vince!" She growled standing between him and Lucien.
"We weren't here for that, we came for Emmett" Wendell bristled keeping me well away from the tense stand off between the two hotheaded demonoids.
"I told you I was fine. Now everyone's hurt and pissed off" I threw my hands up in surrender turning and storming off in the opposite direction. I made it to the end of the hallway before my chest squeezed painfully and a metallic taste filled my mouth before a wave of liquid rose from my throat and forced its way out of my mouth to the point where I thought I was drowning and the only sound I could make out was the deep thud of my head hitting the tiles and the thick liquid washing the pasty white staining it a beautiful red.
