(Emmett's Point Of View)
"We should get going" Vincent let go of my hand and headed towards the door poking his head out of the door in case of any intruders.

"I forget, what do they do to the fallen?" I asked cautiously following him down the stairs into the entranceway.

"They burn them, it ritualistic or something" He shrugged pulling open the front door and stepping out onto the porch "Come on, I can't be bothered walking" He grabbed hold of my arm and yanked me forward, I felt like I had fallen through a hole in a wall but I guess that's what our mode of transportation is.

"I remember this place now..It doesn't change much" I mumbled peering up at the stone colosseum that towered over us menacingly, green vines spindled their way around the pillar and torches lit up at the archway coaxin us to enter.

"No, It doesnt. Keep close okay?" He took a deep breath and stalked towards the entrance of the colosseum, We made it within an inch inside of the archway and all eyes turned to us and I suddenly felt like a criminal on trial. There was a large pit that dropped down from the platform that lined the curve of the walls, white and red roses lined the floor of the pit around the pedestal that stood in the pit.

I could see a black sheet covering the body laid out on the surface of the pedestal and my stomach twisted itself into knots. I felt Vincent's hand reach for mine and trap it between his and squeeze it hard enough to turn my hand purple.

I spotted Lucien stand across from us on the other platform arm in arm with Lux next to the entire council standing on the other platform beside them "Vincent, Nothing seems to go right for you" A voice sighed and Vincent stiffened up, I looked to find the source of the voice. My gaze fell on a tall figure standing over us with his arms crossed.

"Cassiel?!" I yelped staring at the copper haired one of my many and but only serious ex-boyfriend, last I remember he left suddenly when we were dating and never heard from him.

"How do you know my brother! He died when I was twelve!" Vincent barked looking between the two of us in sheer confusion.

"I-I dated him only two years ago" I stuttered trying to piece together what Vincent was trying to say.

"I didn't come back to keep you safe Vince, Nethers were targetting you because of me so I went to the battle and 'died'." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, the look of utter hurt was marred into Vincent's facial features. He raised his hand as if he was going to hit Cassiel but instead he threw his arms around Cassiel's middle sobbing quietly into his chest. "It's okay Little One, you can cry if you want. I'm not gonna hold it against you" He soothed stroking his hair softly.

"I would personally like to start the send off of one of our dearest council members and our most prestigous doctors. Igneus Kaien was a loved member of the Industry and friend of Lucien and Eternal Soul Partner of Vincent Quentius" The High Councillor muttered from the podium over the pedestal.

Vincent pulled out of Cassiel's arms to face the pedestal again a new stonefaced expression replaced the kicked puppy dog look he had on before, I spotted Zephyr heading towards the stone railing of the platform. Her eyes locked with mine and her face grew even more forlorn and devastated as she dropped a rose over the edge into the pit.

I kept my eyes on the team standing a fair distance away from Lucien and Lux, I even caught the hateful glare that Zephyr gave Lux on her way past to the group. Finnian was wedged under Wendell's arm hugging his waist as if to keep him standing, I do vaguely remember Igneus and Finny being very close to eachother.

I snapped out my daze when I heard Vincent dragging his feet to the edge of the platform holding something in his hands, I caught sight of the photo of young Igneus and Vincent standing beside eachother next to Lucien in a forest of some sort. He gave it one last look before throwing it over the edge and turned to walk back towards us.

"Wouldn't you want to keep it?" I asked confused as to why he would throw away a memory of Igneus although I could see the blatant reason printed on the photo.

"I have a spare, I have tons of just the two of us too" He shrugged coldly turning on the spot to look back to the pedestal.

"Emmett." The Councillor spoke up and my chest tightened to the point that I thought I would suffocate "I want you to condemn Igneus' body to the demonoid after life" He nodded curtly, I could hear the loud protest arising from Lucien across the colosseum.

"I-I.." Oh man I couldn't even form a sentence together looking frantically down at my gloved hands then back up to the councillor "Yes sir." I gulped bowing low before taking small hesitant steps toward the edge, I pulled on the fingers of my right hand glove and tugged it off shoving it into my pocket. "Concentrate." I whispered to myself holding my open hand up in the direction of the pedestal, I swallowed focusing my glare onto the pedestal just as Igneus taught me literally a few hours ago.

A small crackle sounded before the purple flames roared into life and enveloped the pedestal in one fell swoop and the fire shot up in one column into the crimson clouds lurking above dying them a blueberry purple before it died down into a small fire filling the pit to the brim. I let out the breath I was holding my legs now shaking like an earthquake gave out from underneath me and I braced myself for the hard impact but I was only met with firm arms catching me around my stomach.

"You're lucky I caught you" Cassiel chuckled keeping his arms in place "You were way too weak to be performing stuff like that now you're drained" He scolded in annoyance.

"We should take him back to my house or the infirmatory" Vincent spoke up frowning deeply in thought "I'll catch up. I have to talk to someone" He turned and started storming off in the other direction.

"Let's go then shall we?" His arm shot out and slipped under my legs and lifted me up into his arms.

"Hey! Put me down!" I protested struggling against his arms although I highly doubt it was doing much.

"Keep quiet, yelling will make you tired" He hushed apparating us right to Vincent's front door.

"Don't care. Just put me down" I tried another weak punch to his chest but I was mighty tired by now.

"It's okay, I'm back to be with you for good now." He grunted clomping his way upstairs into the spare bedroom and carefully set me down on the bed.

"You're a little late" I snapped pulling down my shirt to show him the branding.

"So that asshole with that girl hanging off of him marked you as his Eternal Soul Partner? Talk about a low blow" He frowned drawing the curtains closed.

"Don't make me feel worse about it." I groaned burying my face in one of the pillows on the bed.

"At least I know how to treat you right." He growled sitting down on the bed beside me tugging at the pillow.

"You left me alone. All by myself, or did you just forget" I threw the pillow off and sat up fully.

"I'm sorry, my cover was blown and Nethers would of came after you" He sighed wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

"It doesn't matter, I am half Nether now apparently." I looked away from him feeling pleasantly ashamed with myself.

"And look at the powers you got. you can shoot arrows, kick people's asses, even use a darn katana and now this fire element, you're unstoppable." He laughed turning my face towards him.

"You're doing this to try and win me over because you're feeling threatened by Lucien" I mumbled pulling my face away from his hands.

"I could be. If you're willing to make us fight over your affections so be it, I won't give up on you until it's really over for me." He smiled leaning over to squeez my hand gently, Is it just me or is everyone out to make my life a lot harder than it should be?
