Chapter Nineteen

(Lucien's Point Of View)
I didn't sleep at all during the night I just sat there watching the flickering lights of the buildings and Emmett sleeping peacefully amongst the thickness of my jacket, This façade has gone far enough and he doesn't need to be hurt like this because of my marking trying to replace him with Lux.

"Ugh, I'm freezing" He shivered rubbing his eye with his hand before he stiffened rigidly. "What am I doing?" He asked scrambled out of my arms.

"You almost jumped off the building, I caught you" I huffed cracking out my back that had clicked out of place late last night.
"I did that? How mentally fucked up was I?" He crawled his feet still clutching my jacket around his shoulders.

"Quite badly actually, a lot of confessions came out in that moment of panic. Just not from you" I added sheepishly standing up against the tree.

"I do vaguely remember something like that" He mumbled rubbing his eyes again.

"It was a last resort outburst, I'm sorry" I apologised shoving my now ice cold hands into my pockets.

"You meant it though didn't you? Or was it just to keep me standing on the roof" He scowled folding his arms tightly across his chest.
"I meant every word of it" I kicked at the old snow forming at my feet.

"Also, I didn't love you for your position our kind hate higher ups. I got sucked in by a charming face" He pouted slipping the jacket off of his shoulders and held it out to me.

"I got sucked in by the amount of selflessness in one lankey little blondie" I laughed bitterly reluctantly taking the jacket from him.
"I'm not lankey I'm average sized, you're just obnoxiously tall" He chewed on his thumb shifting awkwardly amongst the harsh winter breeze.

"It doesn't matter, I stand by what I said last night" I leaned closer to him heistantly bringing my hand up to his cheek lingering dangerously close to his lips. His lips were trembling against his chattering teeth as he brought them to mine and an explosion of heat shot down my spine and I was overwhelmed by his aura and his bitter sweet taste washing over my lips and tongue forcing the breath out of my lungs.

"Okay, I need to cut that short before I get all hot and bothered" He exhaled the cold mist from between those beautiful bow lips rubbing his arms to try and warm himself up.

"I put my jacket over you for a reason" I dropped my coat over his shoulders again and buttoned it up "I'm taking you to the council and ending this nonsense once and for all" I wrapped an arm over his shoulder leading him back towards the entrance of the hospital.
"No I'm already in their bad books" He shook his head quickly slipping out from under my arm "You're not fully forgiven, catching me from a ledge ain't gonna cut it. First you stick it to Lux. I am not having no scandalous affair that will land me back in the torture zone, And on that subject..I want Valley released and safe, he's been there almost four months" He scowled defiantly and I couldn't help but admire the true leadership he was displaying.

"I would have the pleasure to release your friend from the prisons, and the Lux issue will be tougher but it should be easy enough" I shrugged leaning against the brick wall to try and take the pressure off my frozen feet.

"And I don't want any kids from you until I'm at least 20" He added, okay so that hurt a little bit considering my sole goal in life was to have a family and a successful career "I want Igneus back too, surely you can find a way to bring him back" He sighed looking down at the pavement.

"That's virtually impossible without sacrificing myself in the process" I protested pulling him just inside the door so I wouldn't have to freeze some more.
