(Lucien's Point Of View)
"Emmett!" Wendell yelped sprinting over to his crumpled up figure laying over a pool of his own blood and I froze, for the first time in years I couldn't move at all just stand there watching Wendell trying shake Emmett into consciousness yelling frantic curses at him before a team of nurses nudged Wendell away from him to pick him up
"This is your fault" He croaked whipping around to glare at me hatefully "You should of left the poor guy alone!" He barked lunging at me just in time for Vincent to step into his path and pull him back.
"Look at what this has done to us. We're at eachothers throats now because of this, because of your betrayal Lucien and the slaying of an innocent demonoid" His expression hardened into a shield to hide the sorrow that was hiding behind that stone cold expression.
"Don't you think I've already noticed?! Igneus was my friend too! Do you think I knew Lux or her parents were planning this?! Or how bad I feel when I can see the look of hurt in Emmett's eyes everytime he looks at me! I took advantage of him for my own selfish motives and I hate myself everyday because of it!" I was out of breath by now and my head was swimming from the angry pounding it took and my jaw throbbed angrily from yelling after being punched around.
"That's enough Lucien, just calm yourself before you pass out too and if you have a concussion it's not wise to fall asleep" Ellie spoke up from her hiding spot a few metres away from us.
"It doesn't matter, I'm sure they would be happy if I did" I shrugged pushing past them to head for the courtyard that people sometimes liked to sit in with patients, I wasn't planning to leave at least until I heard he was okay.
(Emmett's Point Of View)
"Emmett, It's Ellie. It's time wake up now before your friends have a heart attack" I hear Ellie's soft pleading voice accompanying a light tapping on my shoulder.
"I don't want to, just let me die." I groaned trying to swallow the lingering metallic taste in my mouth.
"Don't you dare say that!" She shrieked giving me a sharp prod in the chest.
"Well I'm going to die anyway, you wouldn't want to drag it out too long" I mumbled cracking open my eyes into the blindingly white room.
"We can try and find a way to help you, we can still make you comfortable" She started chewing on her bottom lip looking down at the floor.
"That's not the way I want to go Ellie, I'd rather die on a battlefield" I snapped bitterly playing with the hem of the blanket.
"It doesn't matter, I'm keeping you here until I deem you ready to leave us. Which won't be until you're at least five hundred years old" She clenched her hands into fists probably to avoid punching me out or bursting into tears "I have to find some medication for you, stay put" She warned turning to open the door and close it behind her.
I waited until I heard her walk away before I threw off the blankets and hopped out of the bed, thank stars they didn't put me in one of those ugly hospital gowns just this pair of white pyjamas that reminded me of mental patients. I was going for a walk whether they want to or not.
(Lucien's Point Of View)
I sat out here in the cold on a bench watching the birds flapping past the skyscrapers, I enjoyed the rooftop courtyard because you had the best view of the the city at night. My admiring was interrupted by the shrill ringing of my phone in the pocket.
"Hello?" I answered impatiently to the person panting on the other line.
"Lucien. It's Ellie, Emmett is gone! You have to search for him, we're inside could you check the courtyards?" She gasped hanging up on me abruptly and I was left litening to the dial tone. I shoved my phone back into my pocket and stood up dusting the dirt off of my pants. I caught sight of a silhouette standing up on the high ledge surround the edges of the roof.
"Hey!" I called out taking a few steps closer to the person "Emmett! What are you doing up there!" I yelled up at his slender form standing atop of the wall.
"What do you think! I'm gonna die anyway so I may as well do it quickly!" He sniffed shifting closer to the edge.
"You don't need to jump! Ellie can find a way, I can find a way!" I pleaded trying to shift a little closer to him.
"Don't do that! You've made your choice! I'm like this because I thought you were the one!" He snapped clawing at the fabric covering his shoulder.
"Please don't do this Emmett, I need you. Your friends need you!" I begged blinking at the liquid trickling down my cheek.
"You don't. I'm a nobody fértile, I'm not needed! Nick has found a new friend and I have no one" He sobbed swaying dangerously close to the edge.
"You have me. I love you Emmett, not Lux or anyone else. You Emmett! I can't do this without you. I need someone who loves me for my personality and not because of my position, You're beautiful Emmett! And if you jump here I would never forgive myself for letting you go" I swallowed the large lump blocking my airway.
He didn't asnwer whatsoever, the only remote noise on the rooftop was the sound of his strained sobs into his hands stepping a few inches back from the edge, He put one foot back and a bit of the ledge crumbled away and he slipped backwards, I made a run for it to catch him before he hit the pavement, He stunned for a moment before wrapping his arms around my neck and continued sob loudly into my shoulder
"It's okay, We're gonna be okay" I soothed hugging him tighter against my chest and slowly shifting over to one of the large trees to sit down against it still keeping him firmly sat in my lap, He shifted to try and say something before I cut him off "You don't have to say anything to me, just get some rest" I leaned forward to shrug my jacket off to drape it over his shoulders.
"You'll get cold" He mumbled quietly wrapping the jacket tighter around his tiny frame.
"It doesn't matter, I've done enough to make you suffer" I shook my head resting my chin over the top of his head.
"You don't understand how much I care for you Lucien" He drawled dipping his head into my chest and went quiet, I was much more at ease listening to his quiet breathing brush across my exposed arms prickling them with goosebumps.
