--Emmett's POV--
When I saw Nick open his eyes I thought a weight had been lifted off of me only leaving the weight of what occured today in place. Alistair was a mess and I decided to slip out with Jovia to the cafeteria for much needed nutrition on his behalf.

"If it gets too hard being with him, there's always positions at the hospital and over at the reaper side of the branch. But Kali and I wanted you to stay with us, you went through demon boy med school with Mischa didn't you?" He chuckled thankfully accepting a plate from the waitress.

"Yeah, then I went into leading the team." I nodded looking down at the plate in front of me.

"Come stay with us, Kali needs a friend and he adores you. You shouldn't go through this alone" His hand drifted over to rest on my wrist.

"Yeah! I need another person to hold my hand while I try to push out a damn baby" The said red haired man suddenly appeared in the empty chair next to us.

"You're up, you were pretty miserable when I left you" Jovia frowned giving Kali an once over.

"Still am" He mumbled lifting up the bottom of his shirt to reveal one of those stick on pain relief compresses next to a stick on cold compress.

"You know I hate those things, the chemicals in them could be bad" Jovia huffed in annoyance growling under his breath.

"They're mostly harmless" I pointed out and Kali gave him a smug grin stealing a piece of fruit from Jovia's plate.

"We've cleared Nick to attend the gathering but return here afterwards, no longer then an hour" Juvia had somehow appeared as well and suddenly our table was full.

"Let's drop your stuff off at our apartment" Kali grabbed hold of my bag and hitched it up onto his shoulder "Did you bring that stuffed toy you always sleep with?" He giggled and I cringed with embarassment, I kept a stuffed fox with me from my mother before she died as comfort.

"I-I left it behind." I admitted remembering that I had left it somewhere in the manor "It doesn't matter, it was just a toy" I shrugged trying to take the bag from him fearing that it would be too heavy.

"Well we have a shit ton for the baby so we can spare one" Jovia grinned throwing and arm around neck so I had virtually no mode of escape being forced out of the hospital and into their car.

"You are aware that I am nineteen right?" I grumbled sinking back into the backseat while we continued through the city towards their apartment complex. I could feel the cramping in my stitches and it made the crushing feeling all the more worse.

"Yeah but, you should be out going to college and getting shitfaced not going through stuff like this" Jovia scolded pulling the car to a stop and getting out taking the bag from Kali.

"It's life, we're demonoids it's what we do. Sacrifice is part of the job" I snapped running after them into the foyer of the building.

"That doesn't mean you strip yourself of a life and a family" Kali ground out obviously growing pissed with my arrogance and he never got agitated.

"My parents died years ago and my fiancee has forgotten every happy memory in my entire life" I snarked and Kali stopped in his tracks whipping around to face me.

"I know it hurts, I've been there with Jovia. It sucks being so close yet so far out of reach, there's always hope" His expression softened and he pulled me into the elevator.

"I highly doubt it" I mumbled crossing my arms tightly across my chest. Jovia gave Kali a look before the doors opened to their floor.

"You do know that sometimes certain objects can trigger one's memories after they've been erased" Jovia said digging around in his pocket for his key to unlock the door.
