During fourth, i walked in a tad bit late without my backpack. And only because i didn't wake up this morning on time, and Jannet chose to let me sleep. When i walked into the classroom, i had an electric piano in its case hanging off my back while Eli's guitar sat leaning against the wall in his case. I smiled sheepishly waltzing into the class. A song was being played over Mrs. Morgan's computer speakers.
"Oh? You're here today?" she questioned "are you two actually prepared to present this song."
Eli got up unpacking his guitar. I set my keyboard down on the table at the front of the classroom quietly unpacking it. Everyone watched as we were setting up.
"So, what's the run down on the song, also why were you late Jaz?" Morgan asked i glanced over at her.
"Well, this guy from london showed up at my house and demanded that i go back, and well blood was shed." i stated
"Really?" she asked
"No. i was sleeping and my mom didn't want me going to school." i stated. Hitting a key, checking the sounds.
"Alright. So, we wrote a song on homosexuality." Eli stated. "It's about acceptance, appreciation, marriage, happiness. It's about gays all around. I myself am gay, and Jaz has two mom's."
I looked over at him, he nodded taking a seat on a stool. I started playing as he waited for his cue. A few more seconds passed and i started singing. Everyone who was talking went silent. The class stared in awe at the sound of my voice. I smiled down at the keyboard when we finished the song. The class clapped with enthusiasm. The rest of the day passed without much issue, that was until i got into 6th period. Gym, one of the only other classes i don't have with Eli i walked in expecting the usual, nobody paying attention to me, however the kid from the library incident had spread a rumor about me being gay. The moment i walked into the locker room, there was a disturbed silence. The room of guys started mocking the stereotypical way a gay guy walks and talks. I maintained my usual face, trying to ignore their ignorance.
"So you left britain because you were bullied for being gay?" some guy asked me directly. I flinched at the sudden voice. I glanced over at him.
"I left Britain because i was beat to near death because my parents are gay." i said plainly.
"So, it wasn't because you were gay then." he questioned.
"The town thought i was because of my parents." i said with the slightest hint of interest.
"So you deny being gay?" he questioned
"I-"
"There's nothing wrong with being gay." this kid from the other end of the room said "frankly, i find it cruel that you're all mocking the LGBT community by doing what you're doing."
The locker room stopped moving and looked directly at the kid.
"You're kidding me, we're just joking around. If we wanted to be assholes about it then we'd be directly picking on him." one of the guys said. There was a moment of silence.
"So, are you gay?" another guy asked "is that why you're so bothered by us mocking how they act?"
"My brother is." he stated. In walked James, he rarely ever comes to class.
"What are we talking about?" he asked
"Gay's." some guy stated.
"Oh, because of Jaz and that rumor?" James asked walking over to me, the front of my shirt was grabbed. "You dating my brother?"
"No." i stated.
"Though you guys went out to see a movie, got dinner, and was seen by a group of kids." James said.
"Not a date." i stated "we were working on the project in our class, got bored and went out."
"Because that's definitely not what couples do" he said sarcastically.
"I am not dating your brother." i said starting to get annoyed.
"You sure, i bet he thinks otherwise." he said i scoffed.
"No, he knows we're not dating. It's an obviously stated thing." i said
"So then, does he know that you don't like him being gay." James asked i groaned.
"Never, had i said i didn't like him being gay. In fact, i'm happy he came out. Rather than happy, i'm slightly ecstatic that he has the courage to do so. Could you possibly leave me alone." i said. James tightened his grip on my shirt before shoving me back. I scoffed, looking up at him.
"Careful with how you carry yourself. You can easily get hurt" he said turning to walk away. I let him walk, quietly smirking to myself, i left the locker room.
