Can We Come In?

Karina wasn't at school all morning. She must've bailed in the whole telling Joe thing. Or she wanted to get ahead start on the weekend.

Joe was at school today though.  It was nice, just the two of us, like old times. We were having lunch on the football field. "So how are you and Karina doing?" "Great," he sighed and smiled. "she is so amazing." "You guys are so cute its disgusting." I laughed. "Thanks?" He laughed.

I pulled out a cigarette and smoked it.  Joseph asked for one. "No, its not healthy for it." I replied. "What?" he asked confused. Shit. "Um for your relationship." He furrowed his eyebrows. "You know, because Karina thinks its gross." "Oh, right." he looked down. "Maybe we just wont tell her, for her own good. " He smirked and stole the cigarette from my mouth.

Did he just really say that?

"Oh, well I gotta go." He nodded. I took my cig back and slapped the back of his head.

I walked home. I thought about what Joe said. That was wrong. I wasn't lying about the smoking and how Karina didn't  like it. He really should stop to make her happy, and for the baby he doesn't know exists. If he really cared for her he would have just agreed right? No,  he decided it was best to keep it from her. Maybe he just had a bad day and really needed a smoke. Plus I've  know Joseph for years, he such a compassionate guy.  When he finds out about  the baby he will do whatever to keep it safe.

I made it home and got into some skinny sweats. I threw on my Nirvana muscle tee and left my red hair down. I went into the kitchen and made myself a fruit salad and a subway sandwich. I took it to my room. I sat criss cross on my bed and watched re-runs of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. I glanced at the clock. It read 5:06pm.

I woke up to loud knock at my door. I must have dozed off. It was 9:31pm and raining hard.

Who the hell is at the door?

I open the door.

Matt was standing there shivering and soaked. His eyes dark with worry. I look behind him and see Karina, in tears. Her face covered by her hair.  She was in Matts coat which draped over her like a huge blanket.

"Can we come in?" Matt says breathing heavily.
