Chloe and Derek- A New Beginning

Chapter 21

The rest of the night was basically silent, with the murmurs of Kit and my aunt.

Simon and Tori didn't even look at each other once; they just kept there eyes fixated on their plates. Derek gave me several looks in the duration of our meal.

After dinner was finished, Tori fled to her room and Simon and Derek headed for the backyard.

Are you-

I'm fine. Go take care of your brother

He shook his head in response and continued walking out with Simon.

I helped aunt Lauren with the rest of the dishes and tidying up the table.

"Are you ready to start getting ready for the baby? Like looking at clothes and everything?" She asked.

"Uhm, well i guess." I said and turned off the tap.

"Your still worried?" She asked.

"Not really. I guess I've accepted it." I shrugged.

"Oh."

"Aunt Lauren?"

"Yes dear?"

"Did you... Ever go through this gift?" She was hesitant at even looking at me, but continued.

"I did. I was pregnant at sixteen. Our parents, didn't agree with it. They were against it. Back then, you were only supposed to have children when you were married and well off. I was expected to find a husband before sixteen; which i didnt. The baby almost killed me. Apparently after the delivery, the baby died. I was like you; i didnt want a kid, i wasn't ready. I didnt pay no mind to it. And in the end, it got taken away from me. Thats why i want you to enjoy it. It's your child, i believe your ready and so is Derek. Your lucky you have someone who excepts this like he does." She had a couple of tears running down her face.

"I'm sorry, i didn't know. And i agree; I'm lucky to have Derek. I'll be more excepting than I've been and you know what, I'll even go shopping for the baby soon."

"You dont need to go shopping yet, i just wanted to check out some cute outfits. Plus, we dont know if its a girl or boy yet."

"When can i find out?"

"Well Chloe, you do need to be pregnant first." She laughed.

"I know, but when i am, when will i find out?"

"Oh, probably mid-way through your pregnancy." She said.

"I cant wait." I smiled.

"Me neither." She hugged me and i hugged her back tight.

"Okay, I'll be taking a shower." She said and with that, she flew up the stairs.

Great. What am i supposed to do now?

I think I'm gonna go and see if Tori is okay.

I ran up the stairs and turned left, towards our bedroom. The door was closed, so i decided to knock. No answer.

"Tori, it's me."

"What do you want?"

"Can i come in?" It's my room after all.

I stood there for about a minute and just walked in. Tori was sitting in the far corner of our room, with her hands covering her face. I walked over and say down beside her. She looked up. Her face was tear streaked and her eyes were smudged with her makeup.

"He lied to me. My whole life, i thought he was my dad. Even when i came to Lyle house, my so-called-mother didnt tell me Simon was my brother. After all I've put up with, i still cant believe no one told me." I put my arms around her shoulders and just held her while she cried some more.

This sort of thing, needed healing. And healing needed time.

"You know, it wont be any different. You guys already play the sister-brother part. You guys fight like it, so really, it couldn't have been a surprise or new adjustment." She started hysterically laughing and wiped at her eyes again.

"Yeah, i guess your right." She said.

I laughed and stood up. She out-stretched her hands and i helped her up.

"So, have you figured out what your gonna name the baby?" She asked.

"No, but my aunt and i were talking about looking at some outfits."

"Really? What do you think the baby is gonna be? I'm thinking a girl."

"I think its gonna be a boy."

"Same." I heard from the doorway and saw Derek leaning on the doorframe with his arms crossed.

"A boy or girl?" Tori asked.

"I'm hoping for a girl." He said.

"Awww! Thats so cute! Daddy's little girl. It has a ring to it." Liz squealed.

"Liz?"

"Yesss! Oh my god Chloe! I'm so happy for you!" She yelled. "Hi Tori and Derek!"

"Liz says hi guys." I relay back.

"Hey Liz." Tori says and tries to look where I'm looking.

"Chloe, i just came to say hi. But I'll be back soon, ok? Say hi to your aunt, Simon and Kit for me." She says.

"Okay, bye Liz." And i turn back to find Derek behind me and Tori leaving.

I face the window and see Simon sitting on the deck.

"I tried talking to him, but he said he was fine and that i should come and check on you."

"Should i try and talk to him?"

"You can. But hurry back inside." He smirked and tried to give me a kiss on the cheek, but i dodged it and snagged one on his lips.

I pulled away. "Okay, I'm going. I'll be back at... Maybe never." I gave him my own smirk and walked away.

"Chloe." He called sternly.

"Love you baby." I mimicked his last words and headed outside.

I found Simon staring at the forest and i sat beside him.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey."

"You okay?"

"Nah I'm fine. I know you probably dont believe me." He laughed. "My dad is still my dad and so is my mom. The only thing is, is that Tori is my half sister. Not a big deal to me, but it must be a big deal for her."

"You really are okay?" I chuckled and he joined.

"Yeah i am."

I playfully punched his shoulder.

"I think we should head in. Derek probably wants you inside." He got up and gave me a hand. We walked back to the house and went separate ways down the hallway.

I got my pjs on and hopped in bed.

Tomorrow was the day that i would finally be pregnant with me and Derek's baby. I couldn't be more excited. After my aunt told me her story, i felt like i had the chance to be something my aunt and nor my mom was able to experience for long. The more i heard about this baby and whats to come, the more ecstatic i become.

Me and Derek were going to be parents.
