Courtney

I heard the door unlock.

Shit. Adam.

"MATT?!" I heard Adam scream. Matt stopped kissing me and looked at Adam. Instead of getting scared or nervous that he had just been caught, he smirked.

"See Adam? Your wife can't even resist me." Matt then looked at me again, pressed me against him once again, and aggressively kissed me. I put my hands on Matt and tried to push him off. Adam came storming over, pushing Matt for me. Matt got knocked back. I ran by the fridge, shocked.

"Adam!" I screamed. I was so terrified.

"It's okay, Courtney. He'll learn his lesson." Matt said. Matt went to go lunge on Adam, but Adam sucker punched him in the face, breaking his nose. Matt stumbled back with his hands over his nose. I saw droplets of blood seep out of his hands. I started to cry, I didn't know what to do.

"Get the hell out of my house, you bastard." Adam snapped. Matt just stared at Adam, terrified. Then ran out of the house without a word. I was crying, I slowly made my way to the flow, sobbing uncontrollably.

Adam is going to hate me for the rest of his life. I know it.

I closed my eyes and just continued to cry. All of a sudden, I felt Adam hug me from behind. I turned to him quickly and hugged him so tight. We were both sitting on the ground.

"Adam... Adam..." I cried. He started to rub my hair softly, shushing me.

"Hey, it's okay. He's gone now.  You're okay." He whispered. I was shocked. I looked at him and rubbed my eye.

"You're.... you're..."

"I'm not mad." Adam said, getting his thumb and wiping away a tear. "I know that he was the one that kissed you. I know you didn't kiss him."

"I don't know what happened." I managed to say through my whimpering. Adam smiled for a split second, then wiped my tears again.

"I know. Believe me." He whispered. I shoved my face back into his chest, and started to cry even more.

That night, I couldn't sleep. I just laid in bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking about what had happened as Adam snored away. I turned over and looked at him. He looked so peaceful. I started to tear up again.

What did I do to deserve a man like him?

I reached over and started to gently rub his head. Adam stopped snoring, and slowly opened his eyes.

"Courtney, honey. Are you still awake?" Adam asked in a tired and worn out voice. I nodded.

"I can't sleep." I whispered. Adam turned over and looked at his alarm clock.

"Oh, baby. It's 2 in the morning." I nodded.

"I know." I said. He sat up a little and looked at me.

"Courtney, I swear to you that you are okay. He's never going to get close to this house or to you, ever." Adam said. I just stared at him.

"I'm so scared." I whispered. My eyes started to tear up again. Adam turned nodded slowly.

"I know. But I'm here. I'm going to protect you. Nothing will take you away or hurt you. I promise you that." Adam said. I nodded slowly. "I love you so much, Court. You're my life." He looked down at my stomach. He put his hand on it and smiled. "And soon, our little kid will he my world." I shyly smiled at him. He looked at me. "Come on, let's get some sleep." I nodded slowly.

Adam laid on his back. I scooted closer to him and laid my head on his chest. He put his arms around me.

"Adam." I whispered.

"Yeah?"

"I love you."
