A Twist In Time Book:1

Chapter 3

I wake up to a crash and people cursing. Why today, I swear if they broke something we just bought. Instead of complaining I just get up carefully as not to wake Mikey and quickly go down the stairs. I expected to see a mess but only find the boys wrestling each other on the floor. “Why am I not surprised to walk in on this situation.” I say alerting them I’m awake.

“Brook started it!” Jack shouts and Brook shoves him causing them to wrestle all over again. I laugh at their childishness, but this is why we are all friends.

“Can you all help me get the stuff from the cars up into the kids rooms?" Before hearing a response I open the door and prop it with a rock making sure it stays. “My car has most of Maya’s stuff and Harvey and Jack have a mix of Jaidan and Maya’s stuff.” I say to Rye and Brook.

“Got it Andy.” Rye says walking to Jack’s car and starts to grab stuff. Brook does the same for Harvey’s car so I walk inside to wake Mikey. Opening the door I see Mikey is still asleep.

“Babe, wake up honey.” I say rubbing Mikey’s back.

“We unloading the cars?” Mikey asks groggily. I nod and kiss him before helping him up. I grab Mikey’s hand and drag him with me outside to my car.

“Babe, can you grab the boxes and I’ll grab the toys and other stuff.” I say to Mikey already starting to grab the clothes. Mikey nods and grabs the big boxes for the toddler bed first and goes inside with it. I walk up to Jaidan’s room and for the first time I fully understand what it feels like to be a parent. I put the clothes down on top of a couple boxes and sit down in the middle of the room.

“Hey mate, you okay?” Rye asks walking in with a box for a dresser.

I nod wiping the tears from my eyes and get up saying “Yea I’m okay, just the realism of the situation is weighing in.” Rye nods and opens his arms for a hug which I gladly accept. “You’re the best friend anyone could ask for.” I say letting go of Rye.

“I know,” Rye responds cheekily and pushes my shoulder saying “Go help your man with those boxes.” I blush and push him back before going outside to help Mikey.

“There you are babe.” Mikey says kissing my cheek while walking by with another box. Wiping my eyes one last time I grab the food and kitchen stuff and lay it down on the counter. I see Jack and Rye cuddling on the couch which means they are probrolly done and the same goes for Harvey and Brook.

When Mikey comes through the door I ask “Is that the last one?” Mikey nods and carries it upstairs into Jaidan’s room. I run and jump onto the couch next to Brook and laugh when he jumps. “Sorry, Brooky.” I say ruffling his hair. Brook sticks his tongue out at me with a pouty face trying to fix his hair.

“The paint isn’t dry yet so we can’t put the furniture together until tomorrow.” Mikey says walking down the stairs. I nod and get up to hug Mikey wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Cuddles?” I ask and he puts his arms around my waist.

“I’m putting in a film, what do you want to watch?” Rye asks getting up and walking towards the T.V. I just shrug burrowing my face in Mikey’s shoulder sighing contently. Moments like these are my favorite because I’m surrounded by people I love and Mikey makes me feel safe.

“Andy you okay with that?” Jack asks from where he was sitting.

“Um sorry I wasn’t paying attention.” I say blushing and embarrassed.

“It’s okay babe. Rye was asking if you’re okay with a disney film.” Mikey says running his fingers through my hair. I nod in a silent agreement and Rye puts in Mulan as the film. Mikey picks me up and carries me over to the armchair sitting on it with me in his lap. “There now we can watch the film too.” Mikey says wrapping his arms around me. I nod and lean back against Mikey relaxing into his hold. I start tracing his rose tattoo with my finger subconsciously and it is really comforting. Around an hour into the movie I turn around in Mikey’s embrace and nuzzle my head into his chest. “I love you Andy.” Mikey says looking down at me.
