A Twist In Time Book:1

Chapter 9

I've never seen Keegan so excited and nervous at the same time ever. Today is Keegan's first day of kindergarten and he hasn't stopped talking about how he will be in school with Elijah and Robin. "Daddy, we g-going now?" Keegan asks me for the fifth time this morning while tugging on my shirt.

"Not yet baby." I reply ruffling his hair and removing his hand from my shirt. "Why don't you help Papa make breaky." I say gently nudging Keegan towards the kitchen.

"Okay," Keegan says running into the kitchen to help Mikey with breakfast. I sigh in relief so I can finally finish getting ready and start packing Keegan's lunch for his first day. Mikey and I had taken time off from work for Keegan and Jaidan but we are starting it up again because of Keegan going to school. Jaidan goes to nursery until Mikey or I get home from work and Keegan stays over at Rye and Jack's house until we get home. I still work in a musical career as a songwriter while Mikey wants to be a manager for upcoming boy bands. Smiling I break free of my thoughts and head into the kitchen to make Keegan's lunch.

"I've got to go babe, I will drop Jaidan off at nursery on my way." Mikey says kissing me before saying bye to Keegan and leaving with Jaidan.

"Alright Monkey let's get going we still have to get Eli and Robin." I say placing the dirty dishes in the washer.

"You m-made my lun-nch daddy?" Keegan asks when we are at the door.

"Yup and here's your bag." I say helping Keegan get on his school bag and hand him his lunch. "Come on Monkey." I say grabbing the keys for the van. I buckle Keegan in and get into the drivers side starting the journey to Rye and Jack's.

"Daddy music please." Keegan says politely looking at me.

"Okay baby." I reply turning on the regular radio that plays the top hits.

"Okay everyone this is an old one." The radio person says starting to play a song written by me when I first became a songwriter.

"Daddy y-you write t-that song." Keegan says remembering when I would sing it to him as a lullaby.

"Yea Keeg, I wrote that song." I say turning up the volume a little. "Alright we are here." I say honking the horn to let Rye and Jack know we are here.

"Bye-Bye pa." Elijah and Robin say hugging Rye before getting into my car.

"I will pick you three up from school remember." Rye says waving bye to all of the kids.

"Hi Eli, Hi Robin" Keegan says waving at his two best friends.

"Hi Keeg!" Elijah says excitedly while Robin says hello normally.

"You three behave yourselves at school okay." I say when I pull up at the grade school.

"We will Daddy." Keegan says hugging me before hopping out of the car along with Elijah and Robin.

"Bye-Bye have a great day." I say waiting for them to all get inside the school before leaving for work. "Wassup boys." I say doing my handshake with Brook and hugging Rye. Brook, Rye, and I work in the same industry so we always see each other. Harvey is still a singer but doesn't really go on tour anymore because of being married and having Zander. Jack is the only one of us with a job out of music because he loves kids so much he decided to work at the orphanage we got our kids at. "Did ya miss me?" I question batting my eyes.

"When do we not see you?" Rye questions chuckling along with Brook. He had a point there, I always see both of them.

"Ah, shut up Ryan." I say pushing him playfully.

"I miss Zander already." Brook says looking down at his phone.

"We all miss our kids, so let's actually get some work done to take our minds off it." Rye says opening a notebook writing down some song ideas. Brook and I copy his actions and I have great inspiration for a song. "Andy is in his writing mode." Rye whispers to Brook but I still hear him.

"Be quiet, I actually have a good song." I say continuing to write lyrics. Rye silently nods motioning for Brook and him to leave the room until I'm done. I didn't stop writing until I was certain the song was perfect. I text Brook saying him and Rye can come back in now.

"How's the song coming together?" Brook says jumping over the back of a couch landing upside down.

"Good, I finished the lyrics and just need to figure out the chords and melody." I say taking my guitar out of its case and start strumming random chords.

"I got to leave in a few to get to the school in time." Rye says packing up his stuff and putting it in his locker.

"Okay, tell Keegan I love him and will see him soon." I say getting up and hug Rye.

"Yea give them my regards as well." Brook says hugging Rye like I did.

"Will do, see you later." Rye says waving as he left.

"Okay, a couple more hours till we can see our babies." I say sighing and figuring out the chords for my new song. I get a text from Mikey a hour later asking when I should be done with work. I reply saying around 2:30, are you going to be done later or earlier? I hear Brook sigh and turn to him seeing him looking at his phone sadly. "What's wrong Brooky." I say sitting next to him.

"It's stupid." Brook says hiding his phone screen from me.

"It can't be that stupid Brook." I say grabbing his phone.

"It's just that I miss Zander and Harvey." He says hanging his head.

"That's not stupid, it's actually sweet that you are always thinking about them." I say giving him a hug.

"Thanks Andy." Brook says hugging back before scrolling through his photos.

"Why don't you and I go home early today." I say making Brooklyn perk up a little. "We aren't getting much done anyways." I say putting all my stuff away in my locker along with Brook.

"I will text Harvey telling him I'm going to get Zander and then I'll go." Brook says typing away on his phone.

"Same with me, I gotta tell Mikey." I say realizing I never checked to see if Mikey replied to my text. I see I have a few missed texts all from Mikey. I open my messages seeing it was just texts saying he will be a little late home and to not worry about dinner as he will get some on his way home. I text him saying that I am going home early anyways so it's no problem. I wait for Brooklyn to be done texting Harvey before hugging him saying I will see him tomorrow. "Bye Brook." I say doing our handshake before leaving the studio. I hope Keegan had a good day at school today, he doesn't need any more stress right now.
