Ariana

Wednesday, April 4

11:19 am

"They both just woke up. Mom, when I say they are literally the quietest babies I have ever seen. I think they're broken, mommy. They don't cry."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Mom asks.

"It's amazing. But shocking. They're newborns, and they do not cry."

"That's great. I'm very happy to have them over anytime then."

"I'm sure you are, but I'm about to feed them then they're getting their first bath, so I'll call you later."

"That sounds good. Have fun."

"I will. Love you, mommy."

"I love you too."

I hang up and put my phone down, looking over at Justin who was holding both of my babies.

"Who do you want first?" Justin asks.

"Doesn't matter. Who seems more hungry to you?"

Justin looks down at the twins before looking back at me.

"Um, Alex, I guess."

Justin gets up and gives me Alex returning to his couch with Alessia.

I feed them both before my nurse returns to help me give them a bath.

"So you've already been through this before, but with one baby. For bath time at home, I would suggest one parent bathe one baby while the other parent attends to the other baby. For example, Justin, you could be bathing Alex while Ariana feeds Alessia. That way, you can be a bit more productive with your time."

"That sounds like it'll work. Thank you." I say.

We try this exact system with their first bath. Justin helps the nurse give Alessia a bath while I feed Alex, then when they're done, I get Alessia dressed and fed while they give Alex a bath. It works extremely well, a lot better than I thought it would, actually.

12:21 pm

"That was an extremely successful first bath with twins. I'm very proud of both of you. You should be good for the rest of the day, and you'll be able to check out tomorrow at 7 am."

"Thank you for everything. You've been a really big help." I say.

"No problem at all. It's my job." She smiles before leaving the room.

"You hungry? You haven't eaten all day." Justin says.

"I had yogurt for breakfast."

"Um, yeah. I don't count that as a full meal. You need to eat."

"Okay, fine. There's a Chick-fil-a down the street. I want that."

"You got it. I'll be back."

Justin puts a shirt and shoes on before leaving the room. I'm still tired from waking up throughout the night, so I decide to take a quick nap while the twins are asleep.

They should be fine even if they wake up, since they obviously don't know how to cry.

12:30 pm

As I leave the hospital, I decide to walk to Chick-fil-a instead of drive. It's literally on the corner of the street I'm on, and it's a pretty nice day outside. But, it's also lunch time so the restaurant and every other restaurant are packed.

The drive thru line is shorter, but I obviously can't go through that. It doesn't matter, though, because I'll do anything for my queen.

The line moves quicker than I expected, so I get Ariana what she always gets. A 6-piece chicken nugget meal with a frozen lemonade. I get myself a chicken sandwich meal with a Coke.

"Your total is $10.12." The cashier says.

I give her a $20 and she gives me back my change.

"Thank you." I smile before going to wait for our food.

It's Chick-fil-a so it doesn't take long. And by that I mean like 2 minutes. I hurry on the way back to the hospital so our food doesn't get cold, and I'm not surprised when I find Ariana asleep along with the twins.

I set her food on the table next to her bed and mine on my couch. I love my couch. My couch is nice.

"Baby." I walk to Ariana's bed and stroke her cheek.

"Baby, wake up. I got your food."

"I smell it. And I was sleeping good, why'd you wake me up?"

"Like I said before, I got your food. And I'm gonna make sure you eat it even if I have to sit here and feed it to you."

"I was already gonna eat it. Please don't threaten me again."

Ariana sits up and starts to eat her food, and that makes me extremely happy since she hasn't been eating a lot over these past few weeks, or her pregnancy in general. It seems like it was the same with Bella. That's a terrible habit and I'm always trying to get her out of it, but it never seems to work. The only thing I can do is make sure she eats at least once a day.

"Alex looks like you." Ariana says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"He does? I didn't really notice it."

"Yeah, I think so. I can't really tell who Alessia looks like, but she has a dimple on her right cheek."

"One dimple, like her mommy. That's cute."

"Wait, baby, oh my God."

"What?"

"Alex has dimples on both cheeks. I noticed it when I was giving him a bath earlier."

"That's adorable. I love little boys with dimples."

"Well, now you'll love our son even more. Wait, we have a son. All these damn girls and we finally have a fucking son."

"Chill, damn. It was never that deep."

"Yes it was, and it still is. I'm gonna start preparing him for some type of sport as soon as he can crawl."

"Sure you will. You'll probably forget."

"I will not. Alex, I hope you're ready."
