Justin comes out of the daycare with a sleeping Bella in his arms. He opens the back door and places her in her car seat, then her diaper bag next to it.
"They said she fell asleep about 45 minutes ago. And she didn't eat very well today. Only some of her yogurt and raspberries. But other than that, she played well with the other kids and after I left this morning she cried for a couple seconds before getting distracted."
"That's good. She's improving. Now to get the other one."
I back out of the parking lot and drive to Aviella's school, where all the elementary kids are coming out of the building. Aviella immediately sees us and hugs her friends before walking to the car.
"Hi, mommy, hi daddy." She gets in and closes the door, buckling herself into her booster seat.
"Hey, babe." I say, making my way out of the pickup lane.
"Hey, princess. How was school?" Justin says.
"It was so fun! After we did math and spanish, we had a big party in one of the gyms with the whole elementary school. The middle school had their party in the other gym, and I think the high school went somewhere to eat lunch but I don't know and I don't care." Aviella answers.
"No wonder you like school so much. Random parties for no reason whatsoever." I say.
"Oh yeah, baby, we have a surprise for you and your sister." Justin says, completely disregarding what I said.
"What is it?" Aviella squeals.
"You'll see when we get there. Maybe Bella will be awake by then. We just want to spend some time with you guys, without the twins. I know with two new babies, you two might not get as much attention, so we just want you to know that we're never ever gonna forget about you guys, or love the twins more. We love you all equally." I say.
"It's okay. I know you're not gonna forget us. Me and Bella love you too. And besides, we like playing together while you pay attention the twins. They need it more than we do."
"Aviella Monét, you are too smart for your own good." Justin says.
"Thank you for understanding, babe. We're almost there."
I get off the highway and drive down the street, and it seems like Aviella figures out where we're going before I even turn into the parking lot.
"The zoo! I get to see all the animals! Thanks, guys! I love you!" Aviella unbuckles herself from her seat before I even find a parking spot but her yelling wakes Bella up.
"Hey, Bella, it's okay. We're gonna go see the animals and have a lot of fun. We can see your favorite animal, a giraffe! Don't cry. Look, we'll see one of these, a real, live one!"
Aviella grabs Bella's stuffed giraffe and gives it to her, which calms her down long enough for me to park and get her out of her car seat.
"Hey, B. Your sister didn't mean to wake you up. You'll be okay. We're gonna go see the animals."
Justin takes Bella's stroller out of the trunk and opens it so I can put Bella in. Of course, we packed plenty of snacks for her, because that seems to be the only way to keep her happy, so I give her some goldfish and a bottle of water to keep her quiet for a bit.
Aviella pushes the stroller to the entrance and Justin pays for us to get in.
"Who's ready to stare at some animals?"
