Sunday, April 1

10:12 am

"Mommy, we need to go shopping. For food." Aviella says.

"You know it's bad when the kid is saying we need to go grocery shopping." Justin says.

"That's definitely true." I reply.

"So we're going grocery shopping?"

"I guess so. Sounds like a fun Sunday."

"Alright, I'll go get Bella dressed." Justin picks Bella up and walks upstairs.

Aviella was already dressed, and I really didn't wear anything besides leggings and hoodies, so I was ready too.

"Mama, can I go get in the car?" Aviella asks.

"Yeah, that's fine. You know how to unlock the car, right?"

"Yes. The button where the lock is open." She smiles, going outside.

I put my shoes on and grab my purse, not at all waiting for Justin to go outside.

Me and Aviella sit in the car for about 10 minutes before Justin finally comes out of the house and puts Bella in her car seat.

Since we were having two babies instead of one, there would be 3 car seats in the second row and Aviella would sit in the third row. She already sits back there because "it gives her more privacy" and "she doesn't have to deal with Bella bothering her". Her words, not mine.

"Thanks for waiting for me." Justin says, getting in the drivers seat.

"We didn't wait for you, daddy." Aviella replies.

"I know. I was being sarcastic." Justin backs out of the driveway and drives to everyone's favorite store, Target.

10:24 am

"Mommy, can I hold Bella?" Aviella asks.

"Yes, babe. Let daddy get her out of her car seat first, though." I get out of the car slowly, watching my husband unbuckle Bella from her car seat.

He gives her to Aviella and we walk inside of Target.

"She's not too heavy?" I ask Aviella as Justin gets a shopping cart.

"No, mommy. I got this."

Aviella carries Bella for about the first 7 minutes of us being at the store, then she places her on the ground to walk.

"That's not gonna go well." I say.

"Mommy, can we get Oreos." Aviella says, completely ignoring me.

"We get them every time. I don't know why you think this time would be any different." Aviella smiles, grabbing a pack of oreos and placing them in the cart.

Bella starts to walk away and Aviella follows her, making sure she doesn't leave the aisle we're in.

"Have you gotten all your snacks?" I ask Justin.

"What do you mean 'my snacks'? You eat all of them too." He replies.

"I'm pregnant. With two babies. I have an excuse."

"That's not the point. You still eat them. Anyways, we just need Ritz."

"They're over there, next to the girls."

"Avi, can you get that red box? It says Ritz." Justin says.

"This one?" Aviella grabs the box and Justin nods.

She grabs Bella's hand and leads her back to me.

"Do you wanna sit in the cart, babe?" I ask her.

"No!" She yells, turning around.

"Okay then." I shrug and we leave the aisle.

"Up! Up! Up!" Bella says, holding her arms out.

Justin picks her up and she starts reaching for stuff on the top shelves.

"1 year olds. Who ever decided they would be a good idea?" I mumble to myself.

Bella starts whining so I reach in her diaper bag and grab her pacifier.

"Here, princess." I give her the pacifier and she's automatically quiet.

Grocery shopping, or shopping in general, was always difficult with her. She always wanted to walk, then she wanted to run away, then she wanted to be held, then she wanted to walk again. The times she actually wanted to be in the cart were very rare.

11:38 am

"Your total is $239.59." The cashier says.

"Oh wow. This is what happens when you don't go grocery shopping for a month and a half." Justin says, sticking his card in the chip reader.

I laugh, watching Aviella play with Bella.

"Have a good day." The cashier says, giving Justin the receipt.

"Thanks, you too." We walk out of the store, and I carry Bella because she does not need to be walking by herself in a parking lot.

"Successful shopping trip! Now I won't starve!" Aviella says.

"You were never going to starve, babe." Justin replies.

"I know daddy, I was being sarcastic." Aviella smiles.

I don't think she really knew what sarcastic meant, but she was close enough. And it was funny because Justin said it to her earlier.
