Cassie was helping me get ready for my date with Sean since Elle had to help her mum out with some shopping and Sam...well, Sam just couldn't care less. I decided on a simple, short black dress, a pair of converse and a jean jeacket just in case it got cold out. I put on some eyeliner and mascara. I never was one for the whole make-up thing but both Cassie and Elle were amazingly good at it. Cassie was doing my hair while I played some Kings of Leon on my mobile phone. Cassie and I were humming along to "Use Somebody" until Cassie decided to speak, so I lowered the volume. Cassie wasn't the very...talkative type but she was comfortable enough in front of me and Elle.

"I don't think this date is a good idea Ash," she said as she brushed my hair some more.

"Why not?" I asked surprised and for some reason slightly hurt. I'd been looking forward to meeting all my friends but especially Sean.

"Sean is 19 now. Male werewolves can find their mate once they turn 18,"

"What does that mean Cass? You of all people know that I'm not well informed when it comes to all things werewolf."

"I know Ash and that's why I'm looking out for you. Sooner or later, Sean is going to find his mate and I don't want you getting in too deep when he does," She explained. The room fell silent for a while and I just got lost in my thoughts. She was obviously right but what if he doesn't find his mate? Or perhaps mine could reject me since I'm not a pureblood. I couldn't live on ifs or maybes.

"Maybe I'm his mate."

"Trust me Ash, if you were his mate you'd feel it."

"I just want to be normal for once, go on a date with someone I really like. Can't I at least have that?" I asked. How can one tragic incident change everything, the course of my life? After my dad died, I already moved to a different town in these last few weeks. It made me wonder how much more change I'd have to go through eventually.

"Of course you can Ash. I'm not your mother and honestly, I didn't expect you not to go out with Sean. I know how much he means to you and I also know that you are a very strong person. If he does find his mate while you're dating, you'll get through it. Plus you have Elle and me here for you." I smiled at her.

"Thanks Cass."

"No problem," she said," All done!" I got up to check out what she'd done. My hair looked amazing! I wasn't used to primping myself so I saw an immense change. I hugged her and thanked her again before I got my stuff and went downstairs just in time as the doorbell rang. I heard Cassie coming down as I opened the door to reveal Sean leaning against the door frame.

"Hey," he smirked, " You look..."

"Gorgeous? Fabulous? A thousand dollars?" I asked dramatically as Cassie laughed.

"Fine," He joked as he stuck his tongue out at me.
