Chapter 9

"Oh Snap!"

I woke up the next morning shivering in spite of the woolen blankets. Something was definitely off. It took me a couple seconds to realize that Sean wasn't in the bed. I sat up quickly and scanned the room but there was no Sean in sight. I hopped out of bed and twisted the door knob slowly, not wanting to wake up Seans's father. That's when I smelled the aroma of sizzling bacon, sausages and the faint scent of burnt coffee. I walked briskly to the kitchen and saw Sean over the stove, shaking the pan back and forth and placed it back onto the stove, wearing his "Kiss the Cook" apron. He must have noticed me since he turned to smile at me.

"Good Morning! I thought you'd like something for breakfast," he grinned, pointing to the stacked plates full of eggs, bacon, sausages and baked beans.

"Wow, do you eat like this EVERY morning?" I laughed, kissing Sean on the cheek before sitting down.

"Nope, only when there's someone I want to impress in the house," he replied, looking at me. I blushed and stared at my plate, stabbing some of the food. After I finished eating, I got up to wash the dishes. Wiping my wet hands onto a towel, I felt Sean's hot breath on the back of my neck and soon, felt his hands rest on my hips. I smiled and turned towards, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"God, you're beautiful," he whispered as he leaned down to kiss me. His lips were warm, soft and I felt happy but I still couldn't shake the weird feeling of when I woke up.  He deepened the kiss, sneaking in his tongue and pressing me up against the kitchen sink. I pressed my mouth against his, craving his warm touch. One of his hands rested on my waist, and the other was buried in my hair. He slowly broke the kiss and looked at me.

"I really want to spend some more time with you but Alpha Brendon called us in. We're doing a harsh training session," he said, looking very disappointed with what he had to do.

"I have to go to work anyway, Sean."

"No, you don't understand. I'm going to be gone for some time. The training isn't taking place here,"

"How long then?" I asked, getting slightly confused.

"About a week," he replied, scratching the back of his neck.

"Oh..." I sighed, stepping back and crossing my arms across my chest. "It's not your fault, Sean. You have to obey your Alpha and if he thinks the whole pack needs some training, then it obviously means the pack's strength needs some improving. A week isn't too long anyways," I smiled at him, trying to make him feel better about this. I had others to keep me company and I could focus on fixing up my house some more. I needed to start looking at the bright side of things.

"Yeah, you're always right. Aren't you?" He chuckled,"Well, I'm going to head out then. Feel free to stay here as long as you want." He quickly kissed my cheek, grabbed his bag and ran out the door.

"Thanks," I ended up saying it to the walls. He was sure in a rush all of a sudden but minutes later, I did the exact same thing; grabbed my bag and ran out the door to Marlo's.

As usual, the bar was packed. I honestly wouldn't have thought any less. I got to work, cleaned and gave out food and drinks as I always did. At least it was finally payday and I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. A few hours later, in walked Sam and Elle, holding hands. Sam was looking down at Elle with such love in his eyes while she blushed and giggled. I honestly still couldn't get used to them like that. A few weeks ago they couldn't even stand the sight of each other. I guess that's what mates do to you. Although it doesn't really sound like it, I was super happy for my two best friends.

I wiped down some more tables and grabbed all the glasses on the table and placed them on my tray, resting it on my hip. When I was about to walk into the kitchen, the strange feeling washed over me again. Eric was passing by and stopped next to me.

"You okay there, Ash?" He asked, examining me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just I keep getting this weird feeling every few hours,"

"Are you sick?" He asked worriedly, stepping closer.

"No, I don't think so," I said, smiling a reassuring smile at him.

"I've got to get back to the bar but if you're not feeling so hot, just tell me and I'll cover the rest of your shift,"

"Thanks but I won't leave you alone to fend for yourself while you're being attacked by  depressed drunkards," I smiled.

"Now, that's true friendship!" He laughed, punching me lightly on my shoulder before he walked back to the professional bar.

I began making my way to the kitchen when something else stopped me but this time, it was a familiar face...or rather a familiar back. It wasn't that I'd seen the guy before, I just felt as if I knew him. Finding it strange, I walked towards him. I could already notice that he was tense. He was resting on the bar, leaning forward and making the muscles in his shoulders more prominent but he had this aura around him and it only took me a few seconds to realize that the man was definately an Alpha.

"Do I know you?" I asked, stepping closer.

"That would be unfortunate," he said after he paused at first but shook his head, his back still towards me while he grabbed a shot and drowned it down. The guy sure had issues. He placed the shot glass back down with a thump. I was pretty astounded that it didn't break into tiny pieces in his large hands. I was about to turn away when I noticed he was about to turn around, placing his hands on the edge of the counter to twist the bar stool and when he did, that smirk he'd been wearing was immediately brushed off as he stared at me with wide eyes. I didn't look away. To be honest, I couldn't. The intense stare he was giving me, railed me in. His piercing bluish grey eyes were full of lust and love as he raked his eyes across my body. I would have felt extremely self-conscious but this time, it made my heart skip a few beats. I took in his appearance. He was the kind of guy who'd get always have a flock of girls around him in movies. His tall frame, dark brown shaggy hair, piercing eyes and well-built structure made him very hard to miss.

"Mate," he growled at me, stepping closer.

"Oh snap..."
