"LET'S TRASH HIS PLACE!"

Just when Marcus was going to excitedly elaborate his speech, we were interrupted by a sudden knock.

"Brynn? You alright? I thought I heard a scream?" Dad asked with concern.

"It was just another cockroach!" I replied.

"Cockroach? What a weenie" Marcus snorted smugly.

I turned around and scowled at him.

"Says the guy who mistaken shit for a rat" I remarked quietly and Marcus frowned in return.

"Alright, dinner's almost ready, come down soon" Dad reminded and the sounds of his footsteps of him walking away were heard.

Marcus and I just looked thoughtlessly at my bedroom door.

"Does he-"

"No he doesn't" I interrupted Marcus' sudden question.

"Will you tell him?" He continued to ask, still staring at the door.

I just kept quiet and looked away from him.

"Come on, lets eat" He said happily and extended his hand, acting as if he never asked that in the first place.

I'm grateful, and I guess I didn't seem to appreciate the fact that I had an understanding friend who would be willing to hear me out. It was me who took our friendship for granted. It wasn't Marcus who didn't understand, he genuinely wanted to understand it's just that, I never gave him the opportunity or an explanation to do so.

As I grabbed hold of his hand, we were finally meeting eye to eye.

"I'm sorry and....thanks...thanks for listening" I smiled genuinely at him.

"Anything for a bro" he smiled childishly in return and ruffled my hair joyfully.

Both of us stepped out of the room together and descended the stairs which lead us to see a huge feast before us. Angela is really stepping up her game. My pregnancy hormones so far haven't reacted horribly to the smell of the food. Good good. Hopefully it's like this throughout the whole night.
