TWO YEARS LATER
JULIET
With the sound of excitement in the children's voice, I could tell that their father is back. I left them in the sitting room to watch cartoons while I prepare dinner.
The onion I was chopping was making me Shed tears so I didn't bother to go out to welcome him.
"Daddy let me help you carry your bag." Jason offered. Their voices were no longer distant. I could tell they were coming here.
"Thanks Jason, so thoughtful of you." Damien told him.
Jason is growing up everyday to be a more responsible elder brother than he was before. The way he cares for his sisters is out of the world. The other day, we got a report that he fought in school.
Sorry, I didn't say that right.
He beat someone in school because the boy was bullying Jasmine. But we all know that Jasmine has a loud mouth and can be saucy sometimes.
She probably provoked the boy to anger.
When we got the report, We didn't beat him or scream at him. We thought carefully before taking any actions.
We formed a jury and questioned him. Afterwards, we made him know the implications of what he had done. We told him that we didn't want that kind of report again and we had him grounded. With the way we handled the issue, he accepted the correction with love.
After a week, he came to me to specially ask for forgiveness maybe he had fallen short of expectation. He asked if he was still my favorite boy and I told him I had no grudge whatsoever against him that he is just a child and we are all bound to make mistakes.
When I told Damien, he told me its the virtues I had brought him up with.
Proud mom 100%
"Beautiful woman." Damien called pulling me out of my thoughts. He was carrying Jessie on his arms.
"Hey, good evening. I'm sorry I'm just starting dinner. I had some things to do after work." I explained the reason I hadn't even lit my gas to start cooking.
"It's okay. It's almost seven pm. Are you sure we can continue or we should just order for takeout." I asked.
"Yay!" Jasmine shouted. "Daddy Sharwama." she requested.
"This girl self! Was it not Sharwama we ate the last time. Daddy please pizza." Jason requested.
"Jessie what do you want? Everyone is making their requests." Damien asked our little girl he is carrying.
The children are already excited about takeout. That eases my work for me. I'll just put all my preparations on hold and stuck them in the refrigerator.
Since I started work, Damien has been nothing but understanding. He notices when I'm tired even before I complain. We get to talk more often though and I'm happy about that.
"Jasmine dear, the last two times we ordered, we agreed to order for Sharwama because of you. It's only fair if we let your siblings have their choices too. Pizza it is then." I told Damien.
