Guys, I promised to update yesterday after church but I couldn't because Wattpad was refusing to load in my phone. But here it is now.
Enjoy. 😘😘
DAMIEN'S POV.
Juliet woke up very early today, by the time I woke up, she had already prepared the children and taken her own bath.
"Hey, going somewhere? Good morning."
"Nope! I just woke up early. I couldn't even go back to sleep so I decided to make my self useful."
She started to serve food into my lunch cooler. I couldn't see what she was serving because I was standing by the door.
"What's for lunch?" I asked.
"Rice and catfish stew." she answered.
"Wo! You prepared it this morning?"
"No Na.. Who has that strength? I prepared the stew yesterday and put it in the fridge. I just had to warm it this morning. It was only the rice I made this morning."
"Nice. It smells good. Can't wait for lunch."
She turned and gave me a smirk.
"Well babe, about what you said last night." I continued.
"What did I say?" she asked. I know she knows what I want to say but just wants me to spill the beans my self.
"Fine. About the job. I just want to let you know that I'm not stopping you. I mean you should do what makes you happy. And if you think that you're tired of staying home all the time then get a job. But just don't let it stop you from your house duties."
Her face softened.
"Thanks. I honestly thought that you wanted to tell me not to bring up the issue again. Because you don't want me to work."
"Of course I want you to work if you think it's necessary. You were a working class woman when I married you." she smiled. "Okay. Let me go take my bath. I have an office to go to."
"Okay."
****
"Come back home early today o" Juliet told me as I was about leaving the house.
"I will. Just pray that there will be no call for impromptu meetings."
"There won't." she smiled.
"Okay." I pulled her in for a quick kiss but she stopped me.
"The kids!" was her excuse.
"I'm so sending them to a boarding school when the time is right." I joked.
"No child of mine will be a boarder. Now go before my kids go late to school."
"Bye" I said. She walked behind me to say goodbye to the kids too.
I got to the office by 7:55am but Mercy had not yet come.
It's so unusual. She normally comes by 7:30am, prepare my office and go through everything we will have for the day so that when I come, she wouldn't have problems going through my schedule.
Even if she had come and left to get something, I would have known because her bag would have been here, but there's no trace of her at all.
I went into my office, settled down and tried to call her but she didn't pick my calls.
Maybe she's sick?
So many thoughts ran through my mind. Since mercy started working for me, she hardly got absent from work and even the few times she did, she let me know few days to the time.
I'm just having this feeling that something might have gone wrong.
I tried to call again but she ended the call.
The nerve!
I should just let her be. Maybe she'll come around later. I'll listen to her complaint and scold her later.
I stood up, went to her table and started sorting out the files my self. I went through her schedule book to see the meetings she had booked for me and attended to the few letters that were dispatched here yesterday from other departments of the company before we left for the meeting yesterday at Charlotte Hotel.
I just hope she's not planning to quit, Mercy is too efficient and diligent to let go.
At about after two in the afternoon, after I had given up hope that Mercy would come to work today and I was still yet to contact her, I heard a knock on the door.
"Yes, come in." I called.
"Good afternoon sir." it was Mercy.
I didn't look up. I kept on operating my phone, that was what I was doing before she came in.
"Yes. Why are you just coming to work??" I asked. She would have at least called. She didn't call, she didn't even return my calls and she even had the guts to end my calls.
"Sir, I'm sorry but I didn't come to work. I came to drop my resignation letter." she dropped the words like a bombshell.
I looked up at her and scoff.
"You can't quit, I won't let you quit, in fact, even if you want to quit, you have to give the company a notice to look for your replacement. So Mercy my dear. You still have some job to do." hoping that I would know the reason she wanted to quit and convince her not to leave during the period she will be waiting for her replacement.
"Sir, it was never my intention but I have to do this." she insisted.
"Now if I may ask, why????"
Why dyu think Mercy is quitting her job??
Do you think that Damien's decision of letting his wife go to work is the best?
