Three weeks later.
The past three weeks has been nothing but stress. From the traditional marriage to the white wedding, then coming back home, trying to settle down.
Juliana had already travelled last week for her honeymoon. One more week and she'll be back in Naija.
"What's for dinner??" Damien asked. He had gone to freshen up when he came back from work while I set the table for dinner.
Damien has been nothing but understanding for the last three weeks. I haven't given him enough time but he hasn't complained. Sometimes I try to explain and apologize but he'll shush me and says it's justified because he understands.
"Jollof rice and turkey!" Jason shouted from the chair he was seated.
"Wow! Cool!" he sat down and opened the plate. "Hmm.. Smells nice." he said as he Inhaled the aroma from the food.
He picked up his spoon to eat then I held his hand.
"Bad manners babe. We haven't said our thanks for the meal."
"Oh sorry! Look children, it's always good to thank God for everything including when you're about to eat because he provides everything." Damien said.
"But daddy you provide everything. You're the man of the house. My teacher said its the job of the father to provide for his family." Jason countered.
This kids are growing so fast!
"True! But if daddy provides for the family, who provides for daddy??" Damien asked his son. It's so good to see them bonding as father and son so well.
Jason didn't respond. He just kept blinking his big eyes in front of his dad.
"Jason, God is the one that provides for daddy so he can provide for the family. So we have to Thank God always for his provision. Is that clear?" I explained to him.
"Yes mommy." he answered.
"That's my boy." Damien and I chorused. We looked at each other and laughed.
"Yes mommy." Jasmine said. She's always like this. She always wants to do whatever Jason does. That's why I always encourage him to be a good example to his sister.
"That's my girl." Damien and I answered. That's what she wanted.
During dinner, Damien's phone kept ringing over and over again. I even encouraged him to take his call but he shrugged and said it wasn't important. This wasn't the first time. For about a week now, there has been an unknown caller that's been bugging my husband but anytime I ask him, he'll just say it's not Important that's why he's not taking it.
After putting the kids to sleep, Damien and I walked hand in hand to our room.
He dropped his phone on the bedside stool when we got to the room and excused himself to use the toilet. I sat on the bed and waited for him, so we could talk and he would fill me in on everything that's been happening with him when his phone rang.
I wanted to let him know that his phone was ringing but on a second thought, what if it's the unknown caller that has been calling? What if that unknown caller is a girl and that's why he has been refusing to take the call around me.
I reached for the phone and answered the call.
"Hello Damien, I've been trying to contact you but it seems like you been avoiding me." A deep female voice said in a rush the moment I answered the call. I didn't say anything hoping she'll talk more.
"Look, we need to talk. We just need to talk." Still I didn't say anything.
"Damien are you there? Why are you not talking? It's not like the call was even directed to voicemail or is it network?" she pondered on the phone.
"He's not here, I'm his wife." I answered firmly.
Who's this lady? And what does she want?
"Oh, good evening."
"Evening. He's not here." I repeated.
"humm.. Okay." she said quietly.
"This number is not registered in his phone so who will I let him know called?" I asked.
"Just tell him someone called. He'll know when he sees the number. Thanks."
Just then I ended the call. I didn't even reply before ending the call.
"Hope you didn't miss me too much?" Damien asked as he walked out of the toilet.
I stood up and walked to where he was standing.
"Yea I did." I smiled at him.
He placed a quick kiss on my forehead.
"Good. I'm glad I still have that effect on you." he said and smirked.
"Damien, are you angry with me?"
"No why are you asking? Did you do something wrong??"
"No, but I've been noticing you for sometime now, you've been acting strange."
"Strange? Me strange??" he asked me like he was confused.
"Not that kind of strange, but you hardly look at me, you don't even complain that I don't spend time with you or that I don't have time for you. You don't even take note of my body anymore if I'm adding weight or I'm reducing or if there's a pimple on my face and... "
"Jules, I do. I still do, I take note of your body and everything, I just don't have to be obvious about it all the time. I didn't complain about you giving my time because I know that you've been completely busy and you always try your best. Look at us now, we're together and we're talking. I understand that you've been busy." he explained.
"Thanks. Maybe I'm just over thinking things."
"I guess so." he replied then buried his face on my neck and started raining kisses there.
"Your phone rang, I picked the call and the caller was a female." I told him.
He stopped for a moment, looked into my eyes and asked; "What did she say??"
"Well nothing much, other than you've been avoiding her and she wants to talk to you blah blah blah." I told him..
He chuckled at the last words of my sentence.
"Okay." he said and started to kiss my neck again. This time, in a more sensational way.
"Damien are you cheating on me again??" I asked out of the blues. I didn't even know what pushed me to ask such a question.
"Juliet, I thought we already talked about this. That was a one time thing plus I was tipsy and I regret it deeply. I would never cheat on you again" he answered.
"Good. That's all I need to know." I replied.
I stretched a little to plant a quick kiss on his lips but he was fast enough to capture my lips and deepen the kiss.
It was a good night I can tell you. *Winks*
Who do you think is the caller??
Do you think Damien is still cheating on his wife??
