YOUR POV

In a flash, everything became blurry. My heart beat so fast I could feel it in my throat. My mind throbbed, trying to think of what to say, but I all I though was what could happen. What's going to happen to me? Does Liz know where I am?

"(Y/n)?" Toni's soft voice called out, breaking through my layers of anxiety.

My eyes focused on her face and suddenly I felt a little bit better. Her caramel eyes were filled with worry.

"Um, my last name is Nile," I answer, remembering the random last name I put on the enrollment forms to protect who I really was.

"Your last name is Nile?" Toni said with a soft laugh, but she still sounded worried.

"Yeah, uh, that's not me in the report. Why would you think that?" I question trying to convince her, but her face is still twisted in a confused knot.

"I don't know, this sounded like you. You know, you roll into town, what, three days ago? You act secretive and I know nothing about you. I was worried," Toni answers while taking a step towards me, but her head is hung low.

"There's just a lot you don't know about me," I answer. I don't know what to think or what to say. Everything went wrong so fast.

"Then tell me, that's all I want!" Toni exclaims, her voice cracking from the sudden rise in volume.

"Toni, you don't know how bad I want to, but I can't," I stammered, my eyes started to sting with tears.

"All I wanted was to be your friend and be there for you, friends don't keep secrets from each other. Come talk to me when you're ready to be my friend," she snapped, but her voice sounded hurt.

I watched her turn away and walk back towards the school. All I wanted to do was chase after her, but my feet wouldn't budge, I was still in a state of pure shock. The snow collected along my eyelashes, but I was afraid to blink them off because then the tears would come crashing down. My body felt like it wanted to drop to the ground from feeling so weak. I felt my hands tangle in my hair and pull. How could I be so dumb to think this would actually work? With my head hung like a guilty dog, I walked back into the school.

After the last school bell rung through the crowded classrooms, everyone rushed into the halls. I trudged my way to my locker with a heavy heart and a worried mind. Every time some ones looks at me I worry they know who I really am. If my day hasn't been terrible enough, I see Cheryl leaning up against my locker with a disgusted expression inscribed on her face.

"(Y/n)!" Cheryl exclaims with an annoyed tone.

"To what do I owe this pleasure, Cheryl?" I say sarcastically.
