"Hazardous"

Chapter 12

Emily's POV

It had been over a week now since I had seen Jay after finding out that he had fought Jake. I ended up spending the weekend with my grandparents who lived just over an hour away so I didn't have to go to the date that Jay had planned for Friday. I felt like I just needed some space to think everything over that had been happening with Jay. We hadn't know eachother that long and I felt that now knowing a part of Jays past had made me rethink my "relationship" with him.

After that Jay had constantly been texting me asking why I wasn't at home. Throughout the school week I would refuse to talk to him after I noticed on the Monday his bruised knuckles and cuts on his hands.

I could tell that Jay was now getting frustrated with my I guess you could say childish behaviour but I wasn't going to just let him fight with everyone all the time. I was fed up with him always getting hurt and me then having to deal with the fall out.

It was now Monday, so over 9 days I guess you could say since I had spoken to Jay. I was walking into school after getting the earlier bus this morning, surprising myself by waking up at a ridiculous hour, as my mind just wouldn't stop thinking about Jays explanation to why he had fought Jake. I hadn't even given himself a chance to explain but I was just so angry that he had used violence again. I could tell that this was something to do with Derrick but it seemed that all of Jays problems revolved around him.

The courtyard was still rather empty at this time of the day only a few students were scattered around some sitting on the park benches, with a few others leaning against the school gates obviously waiting for their friends.

I had just walked into the school entrance and was opening my locker to put away some unwanted school books that I would rather not have to carry when I was spun around and pinned up against the lockers. The fast action made the air escape my lungs and my back ache slightly as the metal locker dug slightly into my back. I instantly looked up frightened at this action to see bright blue eyes staring down at me. His breath was fanning over my face whilst a few of his curls had strayed and fallen slightly on his forehead.

I wriggled slightly in his firm grasp on my arms but he just stood there not affected whilst pinning my wrists tighter with a firm glare on his face.

"Why have you been avoiding me Emily. I am fed up of your childish games, acting as if you don't know me..." His voice came out in a surprisingly calm tone, but I could underpin a slight feeling of anger as his husky usually silk sounding voice now sounded completely annoyed. His accusation of calling me childish however had broken me from the trance that is Jay McGuiness.

"How dare you call me childish Jay. I'm not the one who randomly goes fighting people at pubs for fun!" My voice had slightly raised at the end, my anger now starting to creep in as he kept me trapped against the cold school lockers. My skin felt on fire from the contact he held on my wrists as I tried once again and failed to escape his grasp.

I had only just realised that his face had now moved ever so slightly closer so that our noses were literally touching. His forehead was now resting against mine.

"You think that I fought him for fun Emily, you don't know anything about this so don't act like your in the right" his voice was now a harsh whisper as if someone was listening in on our rather heated conversation. I knew the hallways were empty at this time of the morning, most the students smart enough to wait until the last minute to enter the school.

"Why did you fight him then Jay, enlighten me"

"I wanted him to know not to come near you Emily, that your mine"
