"Hazardous"

Chapter 13

Emily's POV

As Jake reached the football pitch all 5 boys had now stopped playing football and had approached him and his group of mates. Leah and I had stayed seated at the side of the pitch after Max had mouthed over to us to stay here and not get involved. The sarcastic part of me rolled my eyes at this command, thinking of how I was already involved in this with Jay.

I knew that if Jake said anything unreasonable Jay would act irrationally and this wouldn't end well. We were sat too far away to here the inevitable conversation that was currently happening. I could see Jake now stood right in front of Jay. From where we were sat i could see that Jake had a smirk on his face, his eyes briefly connecting with mine as he was talking to Jay sending an uncomfortable chill through me.

I had now realised that Leah was still sat silently next to me, making me realise that Max must of informed her of the situation, although i was still apprehensive to ask her how much she knew as i didn't know exactly how much Max had told her.

I could see that Jay was attempting to hold in his growing frustration at the situation as his fists were now clenched angrily at his sides. Jakes friends just stood behind him just observing the situation silently. I could see that Nathan had briefly put his hand on Jays shoulder as a hint for him to obviously calm down.

I could see Jake saying something to Jay before I then heard his obnoxious laugh and before i knew what was happening Jay had swung his fist back and punched Jake in the jaw causing him to stumble back slightly. His face still held that annoying smirk and before anyone could react Jake had also swung his fist punching Jay on the side of his face.

The boys now approached the situation, Nathan pushing Jake back shouting at him causing space between the two who were now injured before they could hit each other again.

I had now run over to Jay worried about how badly he had been injured by Jake and curious as to what exactly had been said to him to wind his temper up that badly. Pushing that thought to the back of my mind I instantly wrapped my arms around him hugging him. I had my head against his chest being able to feel his heart thumping loudly. Jay stilled at my touch at first shocked by my actions, but after a few seconds he responded wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me tightly up against him.

He sighed before lowly speaking in my ear, 'you shouldn't have seen that I'm sorry'. I just shook my head and hugged him tighter. My face slightly flushed at this action realising that everyone was now watching causing me to move out of the embrace, and take a hold of Jay's hand intertwining our hands.

I realised that the rest of Jay's friends were now talking to Jake forcing him to walk away off the field with his low life friends to follow him.

'Come on Emily let's get out of here'. Jay tugged on our entwined hands as we walked away after Jay had bro hugged the rest of the boys and I had hugged Leah goodbye promising to text her later.

It was early evening when me and Jay had walked back to mine, not opting to get the bus and be judged by people whom would probably take one glance at Jays now extremely prominently bruised jaw and come to the wrong conclusions about his life, judging him instantly.

As we approached my door Jay spun me around pushing me up against the wooden frame.

'Do you know what this reminds me of?' He asked his voice now considerably deeper.

'Nope' I responded instantly, making Jay deeply chuckle as a blush was now rising to my cheeks making him aware that I knew what he was hinting at. His lips lightly brushed over mine before he briefly kissed me before he took a step back taking a hold of my wrists and tugging them around his waist so we were now hugging.

We swayed slightly, enjoying a few moments peace, as the sky began to slowly darken leaving the streets illuminated by a calming orange glow. Jay spoke breaking the comforting silence.

'It reminded me of when I brought you back from the fair and I kissed you for the first time'. His breath was fanning over my ear making me shiver slightly from his actions.

I decided not to reply instead take Jay inside to the kitchen to grab him an ice pack for his bruised jaw.

It felt like déjà vu when he sat up on the kitchen counter pulling me in between his legs to stand as I pressed the ice pack to his injured face receiving a hiss of pain from Jay as the ice began to reduce the swelling of his jaw.

Jay leant towards me kissing me on the cheek as thanks as I held the ice pack in place. A sudden noise of a car engine was heard and the lights of a car could be seen reflecting through the house. I started to panic realising that my parents must be home.

'Stop panicking' Jay spoke as I had now started pushing him towards the back door in hopes that I may be able to get him out of the house before my parents realised that he was here as otherwise they were bound to do that whole 'parental interrogation' on him.

Just as I had opened the back door to let Jay out of the house I heard a loud cough interrupting my thoughts about Jay having to sneakily leave as Jay and I instantly spun around to see the surprised faces of my parents both looking unimpressed at the situation before them.

A lump in my throat formed as I wondered how I would ever be able to explain myself to them this time.
