Chapter 40

Henry looked up stood there, stupefied by what he was hearing. 

"You're telling me you were given a ride across the river by Nico Di Angelo himself and he took you to the Fields of Torment, you all survived, Rhiea, Eurydice, and Eris payed Nick a visit, Herc bargained for a ride from a very powerful ghost, and you road Mares of Duinedes here?" 

Alex nodded her head, grinning wider than the Joker and brighter than a light bulb. "Yep." 

"How the hell were you planning on getting inside?" Keith asked, his eclectic exterior from the fight almost completely gone as he looked like he was going to face palm at any minute from the stupidity of it all. 

"Work in progress at that point." Herc said, shrugging a little bit. "We were going to get caught by Hades and work from there." 

"Then you guys fell from the sky and started flying towards us, and you know the rest." Jonny finished, actually trying to quicken the pace of this. 

"But what was Nick planning on doing?!" Henry snapped, actually wanting to slap them as well and having a little harder of a time controlling his temper. 

"Well," Herc pulled out the pearl. "One, he was planning on being Orpheus and taking her up through Orpheus path." 

"But he would have to kill her to do that." Keith said slowly, not really grasping the gravity of that statement till it left his mouth. "Oh." 

"Yeah."  Alex said sweetly, jumping up and down again. "Then, he was going to purpose to her and use Orpheus' rings!" Henry's face paled, which was a statement since he was already really pale."What's wrong?" 

"He can't." Henry said hurriedly, his hands going to around his neck to check to see if it was still there. Herc's eyes widened a little when the matching, bigger ring hung around his neck on a chain. 

"Where did you get that?"  Herc asked defensively. 

"From Aphrodite." Henry answered. "She put it in my protection so that Nick couldn't pull what he is trying to." 

"Oh, well, that's a good thing then." Herc said slowly. "Now we need to stop her from being killed." 

"There's something that is driving me nuts though." Alex said, putting her fingers to her chin and thinking. "If she were to die, what does 'With hallow hearts and binding rings/ A single word will break the wings' mean?" 

Henry stopped dead, whirling around on her. "Wait, is that exactly what the prophecy said?"

"Yeah," She said, tapping her head like it's a no brainer. "this isn't  just used for reference material here."

"Why?" Jonny asked, looking at them both. "What was the last line of yours?" 

"'Truths be uncovered, hearts to break/ A soul will rest in darkness' wake.'" Keith replied and it went dead silent. 

Henry and Herc exchanged looks with each other. 

"You sure..." 

"Might be..." 

"What are you two talking about?" Alex and Keith asked at the same time. Jonny bonked them both upside the head. 

"You two are the stupidest people in existence, and dear, that is only a sometimes." Jonny seethed, closing his eyes as he tried not to hit them again. "It means either one of us, Nick, or Elisabeth is gunna die." 

"Oh fuge." Keith said slowly, it all sinking in. 

"Yeah, what he said." Alex nodded. "What do we do?"
