Chapter 10

I don't know at what time I actually fell asleep; I just woke up cause the alarm started ringing.

I get out of bed and start getting ready for school. I really miss my makeup, maybe today when I go 'shopping' with Esther I can buy some.

I walk downstairs and see at the last stair doctor Emmanuel with a big smile.

- You look beautiful. – He says trying to help me with my backpack but I don't let him.

I smile at him; I'm only wearing the grey sweater he gave to me back at the hospital, and black jeans, with black shoes.

- Thanks dude, you too. – I say trying to sound chill, maybe in that way he will not kill me.

- Dude? – He laughs.

- Sorry, - I laugh nervously, - Doctor Emmanuel. – I try to sound serious.

- Nope. – He says opening the door of his car.

I get inside and he closes it.

He walks around to the other side and opens the door of his side, he sits down, I'm trying not to look at him, and I'm looking at the park that's in front of us.

- You have to pick a nickname for me, hate when you talk to me so formal. – He smiles as he turns the car on.

- Um, I guess I'll think of one. – I say putting some hair behind my ear.

I realize after a couple of minutes that we are not moving, the car is not moving. I look at him and he is looking at me with a big smile.

- What? – I ask nervously.

- I'm happy to have you here with me. – He says holding my hand and taking it to his mouth, giving it a small sweet kiss.

No one has ever done that, eveeeer! I'm nervous, I can feel my body shaking and he giggles. I'm as red as a tomato right now, what if he tries to kiss me?

He drives in silence the first five minutes.

I'm looking through the window, admiring this side of the world, the beautiful one, the side close to the governor's house, where all the rich people live.

- So, tell me the nickname. – He commands.

- I was thinking of "Manu", you know cause you're Emmanuel and I think it sounds okay. – I say looking at him, he smiles and I continue, - of course if you don't like it I can look for another one, a better one.

- Manu is perfect, the thing is, you really have to use it, no more doctor or doctor Emmanuel, okay? From now on, I'm Manu. – He says with a big smile.

- Deal. -

We continue in silence until he drops me off in school.

- Thanks doct.... Manu. – I say getting out of the car.

He giggles, - no problem beautiful. – He says and I watch him leave.

I get inside and see the awful clan next to my locker, Lily and Jason are making out and it's just disgusting.

As I'm walking closer I start feeling kind of dizzy, I reach out to a locker and try to catch my breath, I start seeing something black behind them, THE SPIRITS! They're big, they're looking at me laughing, even when Lily and Jason are not even looking, their spirits are and it's terrifying.

Jason's spirit gets closer whispering at me – I'll kill you. – I can't catch my breath, every time I'm around them I feel this bad power over me, like I can't move, like I can't defend myself.
