Chapter 19
I wake up in a white room with my hands and legs tide, everything is so blurry, I can't stand up, I feel like I'm suffocating.
The door opens again and I can't see who it is. I'm trying to move but I can't, I'm still so sedated and hungry, I feel weak, my lips are hurting and I have a headache.
The person starts speaking and I recognize it for his voice, freaking Bann.
- Let's end this Ruthie. – He says carrying, I can't even speak, can't feel my tongue.
He takes me to other room, I see a bucket filled with water and I know what's coming.
He's get my head under water, I can't move, I can't breathe, my heart is beating slower and slower with every second, I'm dying, slowly dying.
Out of nowhere he lets go and someone pulls me up again, Crystal is there, she pushes my hair to my back and she looks worried as heck.
- Ruthie can you hear me? – She asks, I can hear her but I can't respond.
She unlocks the chains from my arms and legs and she holds my hand, she is running with me behind her, she doesn't let go even though I can't see very well and I can't feel my legs.
We get to the entrance and suddenly all I see is black spirits, I can recognize faces but the body shape and everything is just black and Crystal is shinning white.
All the black spirits are start getting closer; my vision starts coming back little by little.
I see Crystal standing in front of me; I stumble a little and is like a protection shield comes out of her body, I can't believe what I'm seeing. A black shadow turns into his whole body in fire, other moves his hand and water comes out of them, one blows and the wind that comes out like a hurricane, it starts destroying the building, the roof start coming off piece by piece but I realize nothing's happening to me, Crystal protective shield is too strong. She pushes them away with the protection shield and they fall to the floor. She holds my hand again and starts running, I'm stumbling, I'm trying to keep it all together but I'm falling constantly.
- Listen to me Ruth; you need to find the letter. You need to understand why you're here. You need to find Manu, he's trying to help, okay? – She says gasping for air.
I think I'm nodding in agreement but I don't know, I'm too sedated to notice what I'm doing.
She pushes me out of the building and everything falls apart leaving her inside with pieces of my past.
I'm in shock. She's dead.
Crystal is dead.
I blink a couple of times, maybe is just a dream but I wait and wait and I finally admit she is completely gone.
Tears come out but my whole body is numb, the cold hits me hard and my cheeks get extremely cold along with my hands. I'm in this tiny white dress, completely exposed to the cold, barefoot, tired and hungry. My bag is gone too.
It takes me a while to get on my feet again, I want to find the letter more than anything now, I just lost Crystal and I'm angry at myself for not knowing what's going on.
My old house is 10 minutes away from here, Manu's house is around 45 minutes walking, I know I'm not going to make it to Manu's house and I don't have the courage to ask for forgiveness right now, I'm going to try to make it on my own.
My feet start hurting with every step I make, I'm trying to hold on a little longer, I can't feel my hands and my body can't keep itself warm anymore. I finally see my old house and the adrenaline hits me again.
