Peter usually doesn't wear much underneath when he's in his Spider suit. So when the two had gotten out of the car in the hospital parking lot, the kid was stuck in his pair of boxers and one of Tony's old t-shirts that he had tossed over a seat in one of his cars. What else could he have worn? He couldn't have strutted in there casually clad in red and blue spandex. When they got inside Peter wanted to immediately run to May's room, but was held back by Tony's hand clutching the back of his shirt. "Hey," Stark leaned against the desk in the lobby. "Is it okay if we see May Parker?"
"Oh my gosh," her mouth gaped open. "O-Of course Tony Stark! Do you mind if I get a picture?"
Tony smirked as he snapped a photo with the receptionist while Peter stood by waiting very impatiently. "Mr. Stark can we please go now?"
The philanthropist nodded and walked towards the hallway that lead to the room May was in, "Alright kid, c'mon let's go!"
Peter nervously creaked open the door, scared that he'd been lied to. That it was all some trick being pulled on him. That May truly was gone. But when he opened the door, she was sitting up in her bed watching a random Food Network series. She looked tired, but much better than she had, and the most noticeable thing was that she was actually awake. "May?" Tears trickled down the kid's cheeks as he slowly entered the room.
"O-Oh my god! Peter, you're okay!" His aunt tried to pull herself up from the bed, but found her body too weak to have any pressure put on it.
Peter Parker rushed over and hugged May, she ran her fingers through his hair as he cried into her shoulder, "I-I missed you May."
"I missed you too hunny," May quickly look up as Tony walked into the room, and she couldn't help but smile.
When Peter finally broke off from the hug, he found himself with a puzzled look plastered upon his face, "W-What do you mean you're happy I'm okay? You're the one who was in a coma for weeks."
"I heard you Peter," May put her hands on her nephew's cheeks. "I heard you in the apartment when it was on fire Peter! Why were you in there?"
"I-I was trying to get you out May..." Peter could feel his bottom lip tremble a bit. By the tone of her voice, May seemed angry.
"I know that Peter! I heard you," his aunt pulled him into a hug once again. "Why would you risk your life like that? What if you died?" Oh if only she knew. Spider-Man'd been through a lot worse.
"I-I'm sorry May," the kid began to cry once again. Sure, he felt pretty pathetic, crying in front of Iron Man despite that conversation they'd had all those weeks ago, but didn't he have a right to be in tears?
Speaking of, Tony Stark had pushed himself into the corner of the room. He wasn't used to being around this sort of emotion, so he tried keeping himself as far away from it as possible. Saying one of his snarky comments could completely obliterate the emotion in the room and just make it awkward.
"I just- I love you so much May," Peter pulled himself away again, becoming face to face with his aunt. "Everyone else around me has gone away, I couldn't loose you too."
"Aw, hunny, I promise, I'm not going anywhere," May smiled at Peter as she looked at him again. "But Peter... can you please tell me why you're not wearing pants?"
May's sense of humor quickly caused the gloomy mood that drifted amongst the room to disperse. Tony decided to bring himself in, this was more of his comfort zone, and didn't even try to hold in a laugh.
"It's good to see you too Mr. Stark," May smiled with her arm around Peter.
"I'm almost certain that I've told you to call me Tony."
"Guess what Aunt May, "The kid grinned, very childishly. "I got to stay with the Avengers this past month!"
"Wow," his Aunt mouthed a quick 'thank you' to Tony Stark.
Tony nodded as his mouth curved upwards, "So May, you going to get to go home today?"
"No, but it's only a few days that I have to stay here."
They three continued to catch up for the next half hour until a doctor came in and said that May need to get some rest if she wanted to leave in two days. So Peter Parker and Tony Stark willingly left.
When they both got to Tony's car, Peter sat himself down in the passenger's seat, right next to his sorta kind dad-like person. "Thanks Tony."
"For what kid? I don't remember doing anything so great that I deserve a thank you from the amazing Spider-Man."
"Thanks for..." Peter thought for a quick moment. "Everything really... my entire situation would've been a whole lot worse if it weren't for you."
Still not quite understanding what he did, Tony put his hand on Parker's shoulder as he started up the car, "No problem Pete."
