The Special

Chapter 7

When I finally arrive at my 26th floor room, all I want to do is fall onto the feather pillow. And I start to do so,but after two steps I stop seeing a lady, more a young women, standing at the doorway.

"Sorry if I scared you, Miss. I'm Rosa and I'm going to be your helper during this next year." Rosa says, smiling warmly. She is dressed is a soft pink sweatshirt, showing a plain white shirt, and jeans.

"Oh. Hello." I respond shakily.

She smiles again at me. " I understand you are tired. Would you like me to prepare for bedtime?"

I nod, not sure of what to say, when she walks all the way in and starts pulling the bed covers down, dimming the lights, closing the blinds and getting my pajamas out. I just stand there awestruck, which she must have noticed. She smiles one of her warm smiles again.

"I will leave you to get dressed. press this buzzer go call me if you need anything." Rosa says, closing the door behind her.

As soon as the door closes I sprit over to the chestnut dresser across from my bed. I open the first drawer and find neat piles of designer clothes. A pink scoop neck shirt with a pocket patched on with dark pink stitching catches my eye.

I set it out on the ground for tomorrow's outfit.

The next drawer down holds bottoms.

All shades of jeans, jean shirts, skirts with eye catching patterns, and leggings!

I immediately take out the scoop neck, and a cute pair of dark jean shorts. I set them out at the foot of my bed for the next day.

Just then Rosa comes back in. he sees my laid out clothes and says,

"What's this?"

"Oh. I just set out my clothes for tomorrow. You know the announcement." I stammer. Was I supposed to do that?

She smiles softly again, then comes over to me and puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Mady. Here it is different. I will set out your clothes for you. What is appropriate. This here is not appropriate for the Announcement. It's too casual. You will wear a casual yet cute, perfectly tailored dress made by the in house tailor,Lynn for you."

Another women walks in and she is holding fashionable dress.

It is light blue, and has a lace pattern.

Connected to it is a brown, leather, braided belt.

I feel a flutter of excitement. "It's so cute! Thank you!" I say to Lynn who smiles at me appreciably.

"Good night Madylyn. It's time for lights out."

And with that she leaves my room leaving me to crawl into bed.
