Woohoo! 6k reads~ So should I end this here? XD I have more ideas for this story but I don't want it to become draggy..
-a few hours ago-
Lewis was staring at the tanned, burly man that stood before them suspiciously. He turned to Turps and whispered.
"Are you sure we can trust this guy?"
Hannah looked at the man, and back at Lewis. Then she stood up.
"Lewis. I trust him. We don't have time anymore!"
Lewis sighed as he stood up.
"You said you know where Yumi is. Show us."
It was almost an hours drive out and everyone couldn't help but notice that they were getting somewhere they didn't know. Everyone who could go had went, just in case. So there were five people squashed in the first car and six in the second.
Sensing everyone's discomfort, Kim decided to try and start a conversation with the man they now know as Ken.
"So... erm.. when did you see Yumi?"
"Oh it was about two days ago-"
"TWO DAYS?!" The whole car echoed. "What the fuck took you so long to tell us?!"
Ken looked slightly guilty.
"Well, I wasn't sure it was her you know. She didn't have her blue hair and she looked different."
Everyone turned to look at each other. Yumi loved it when Lewis said she could dye her hair blue. Ken continued talking.
"So yeah, I was just watching one of her Minecraft videos when suddenly I saw her peek into the shop. For a second I wanted to just squeal like Simon but then a teenaged boy ran to her and grabbed her. She seemed scared so I followed her and saw them enter this small room behind some shops. I haven't seen her since then."
Hannah hugged Lewis tightly. Simon looked serious as Kim softly said the name.
"Ethan..."
Lewis' POV
We soon found ourselves on some back alley. Ken showed us the store he worked at but no one really cared. Of course we tried to at least look like we did. It felt only right to at least give a Yognau(gh)t SOME attention.
He stopped outside a door of what seemed like an old, abandoned store made shift into a house. We gave each other a glance before I knocked on the door. For moments, the door stayed shut. I dreaded the worst when the door finally swung open and a male stood behind it. No. A teenager. Ethan, I assumed.
He looked shocked as he quickly tried to close the door but we had more numbers on our side so we easily pushed through. The people behind me were all shouting, almost like to build courage for what we might see.
He stumbled slightly but instantly ran further into the house, standing in front of my child protectively. What hit me, however, was how tired she looked. Her eyes seemed like they had given up on life, her arms seemed red and raw for some reason. Still, she had smiled when she saw us and my heart calmed down slightly. Hannah seemed like she was ready to rush across the room and so did Kim but I held her back and Duncan helped stop Kim.
I took a step towards them cautiously when Ethan suddenly shouted.
"Yumi is MY sister!! YOU CAN'T TAKE HER!"
"Your sister?! Look at her!!! Does she look like she wants to be here in the slightest?!"
He growled but then smiled. Swinging his arm backwards, his fist soon found its way to my stomach. I coughed out air but easily retaliated. My friends were behind me, shocked but they stayed where they were. A kick came towards me but I dodged it. I may not be the strongest but I was still relatively proud of the skills I had picked up as a boy scout.
Then I saw Ethan freeze, his eyes stuck on Yumi. Slowly, I turned to look at her too. She had stood up at some point but what made my heart ache was the tears that poured from her eyes. She didn't even notice them as her eyes slowly looked up at us, confusion clouding it further. We were all seemingly frozen in place as we watch her slowly lift her hands, trapping a few tears as she did so. She looked at them in surprised.
We watched as her whole body first slowly swayed. I instantly ran up to her, thinking of helping her up. Instead, she simply collapsed like a doll in my arms. Everyone shouted as they ran over. I looked up, wanting to tell them to move away and give her some space. However, I felt her move slightly and quickly looked back at her.
She had lifted her arm and I could see that the red marks were remains of what was probably a burn. Her tear stained faced was filled with an expression of pain. She seemed to have difficulty breathing as she called my name in a voice that would forever stay in my mind.
"Lewis.... I can't ... I can't breath... Lewis. It hurts. Lewis help me....."
Everyone shouted as she fainted. Hannah ran to her, but I kept her aside as I quickly stood up. Ethan was instantly by my side, looking at his sister worriedly. I knew I shouldn't act hostile to him, he was still Yumi's brother. Still, I glared at him for a good second to show that I was angry. Angry for what he had caused Yumi to become. I carried her out into one of the cars. Ken was driving his own car with Sjin, Ethan and Duncan. Ethan wanted to stay with Yumi but honestly, now all I wanted was to give him a kick up his balls so it was definitely reasonable for me to deny his request politely.
Hannah sat at the front seat while Kim drove. I let Yumi lie on the back seat, keeping her leaning against me. Hannah was looking at us when I saw her start crying. I looked at her, trying to reassure her that everything was going to be okay. She was looking at Yumi's arms, wondering what on earth could have caused that.
A few minutes later, Yumi woke up, hut barely. She didn't seem to realize what was happening and was obviously scared. I quickly grabbed a paper bag and used it to try and help her with her breathing.
"Lewis...? Ha.. Hannah..."
"Shh.. It's okay. Just breath okay? Take it slowly. Try and hold your breath for a little."
She nodded and I managed for a little but she soon feel back into a dead sleep. I relaxed into my seat, calming myself down. Her skin was ridiculously warm against mine and I wondered how I even managed to not notice the second I stepped into the small house. It took us a while but we arrived at the hospital soon. We were lucky as there wasn't too many people and we soon got to see the doctor.
A mask to facilitate breathing was quickly pulled out to help as she stayed unconcious. Meanwhile, the doctor checked her fever as well as the burns around her arms. We were soon chased out of the room and were left pacing outside the door. Her injuries weren't too severe so the doctor soon came out. I sighed as I followed the doctor, not saying anything that Ethan was right behind me.
Apparently, she had fainted from lack of food, lack of rest, the constant asthma for two days had also contibuted, as well as the high fever. She should wake up in a few days.
We told everyone else what we knew. Afterwards, I pulled Ethan aside.
"I really don't like you."
He looked at me silently as I continued talking.
"But you're her brother and she cares about you so this time, I will forgive you."
Ethan swallowed.
"I.. I didn't mean to hurt her. I just... I just wanted to see my little sister again..."
I looked at the ground.
"We'll talk about it again when she wakes up." With that, I left him standing there to join Hannah.
For now, I just wanted her to be okay...
