Funerals, funerals, funerals. Have you ever seen a little girl coffin? Those things are what make good people go bad. Ariel had one of those, her funeral was a few days ago. I can't shake the feeling it was my fault she died, I'm the eldest at camp and I couldn't protect her. Apparently the traitors expect me to join them, seeing as I'm practically a cold blooded killer. Why wouldn't they expect me to go bad? I can't shake the image of Tahlia's blood draining from her neck. Why was I even thinking about this? Oh, right. Because I'm on fucking patrol again. Chiron keeps assigning it to me, he thinks I did some brave thing by killing someone who I used to call my friend. Speaking of people I used to call my friends, Wendy joined the traitors. It was no surprise. She always needed to be better than me, and when I killed Tahlia, she couldn't take not being the one receiving all the admiration. So she joined the traitors, she probably promised to kill me. People have been underestimating my skills in battle lately.
Instead of being some traitor little bitch who runs away from their problems, I continued on my patrol instead of thinking about darker things. I only had my sword equip, my huntress weapons would appear if I needed them. I had been on patrol for at least two hours before I saw anyone, and even then it was just Tasmin. She's Savannah's only remaining loyal half-sibling. Daughter of Athena, which you can guess easily after spending some time with her. She gave me a smile and passed over a plate of food, she knew that I wasn't in the mood to speak with anyone.
Another few hours past, the plate of food Tasmin got me wasn't full of my favourite dishes, if Elsa had have mace me that plate th- holy shit it's cold. I looked up from my post, noticing Elsa's golden brown hair coming towards me in the moonlight. Great.
I held my head up, straightening my posture and holding myself strongly. I kept my eyes narrowed at Elsa even as she neared me. Why is she here? Does she want to torment me?
"Be careful with that sword, you've already got blood on your hands." Elsa said tauntingly, looking from my sword and back to my face. Elsa's very good at pretending to be heartless nowadays, but I know the real her.
"So does your new best friend, Flora. Although the blood on mine is not from an innocent." I replied, making eye contact with her.
"You got me there, killing the little girl may not have been necessary to Darren's cause, but she did taunt her. What's done is done." She said cooly, brushing off the eight year olds death like it was nothing.
"What's wrong with you?" I spat out, pausing for a second before continuing.
"Ariel was eight! And what on Earth is Darren's cause? Killing all demigods in existence?"
"You'd like to know, wouldn't you? You'd like to be the big hero of camp half blood? Aw, you'd probably even kill Darren to be that. But you wouldn't kill me, because you still hold onto that stupid thing about me being your sister." Elsa said, using only two breaths and panting slightly after finishing.
"How dare you accuse me of such selfish things. You know who I am, Elsa; I am not a murderer, I will not kill without reason. But maybe you are right, maybe I would kill Darren, maybe I wouldn't be able to kill you. Why is that wrong?" I said, keeping my gaze on her and holding my stance. Elsa took a moment to take this in before continuing, maybe this was actually effecting her.
"Because, Callista, you have no right to protect me. You mean nothing to me. You are not my sister or my best friend. You are nothing." Her voice was shaky on her last statements, which brought relief to the wounds she had opened by explaining this to me.
"If that was true, you wouldn't be here. You wouldn't have stopped Flora that night Ariel and Tahlia died. You wouldn't have cared if I died." It seems my voice matched her shakiness, as I struggled to keep my strong stance.
"You know nothing! You left me! You left me in the Hermes cabin!" Elsa yelled, her anger overflowing from her body and out through her mouth.
"Do not blame me for being claimed. Do not try and turn this around! You left me at camp! That was something you had a choice in, my parent claiming me was something I did not!" My voice was even with hers, although we were far enough from the cabins for no one to have heard us. Things were silent between is for a few minutes, the air filled with our heavy breathing. It was me who spoke up, in a quieter voice this time.
"You would kill innocents in cities, mortals, even our own kind to get your vengeance on your mother. Call it Darren's cause or whatever you like, but this war will bring nothing good to you. Someone from both our sides have already died!" I ended my statement by raising my voice, hoping this would help bring my point across.
"This is, as you said, a war! People will die!" Screamed Elsa.
"And what if you die? What then!" I returned, holding the same strength as her.
"Όλοι οι άνθρωποι πρέπει να πεθάνουν, Callista!" Elsa's words came out in Greek, although I knew that phrase already, All men must die.
"Yes, Elsa. All men must die, but we are not men." I replied, keeping my voice steady and strong and continuing with that same boldness.
"Now go, leave. If you do not believe this to be your home any longer, then you do not belong here."
