It had been a week since Miranda and Phillip first kissed. Her mom was pissed at her because She came home five minutes late and her stepdad well he wouldn't leave her alone about Phillip. She was getting tired of both of them and She really wasn't  wanting to stay at that house anymore. And to add on to her problems She was waiting for this big news that Quon needed to tell her. "Where do you think you're going?" Her stepdad asked. She rolled her eyes at him. "Well since it's a Monday and it's almost eight I'm going to school so have good day and leave me alone." "You better not be ditching class to see that thug." He stated. "First of all you're not my father and second of all I'm actually a good kid. I've never skipped school like ever. And third of all just because my best friend is black doesn't mean I'm gonna go down the path of no return. I think you need to sweep around your own front door before you try sweeping around mine. I'll see you and mom after work tell mom I said bye and that I love her since she's not here."

I stormed out of the door and walked to Phillips truck. Ever since we had kissed he had been picking me up for school. I got in his truck angrily and closed the door. "You good Miranda?" I nodded my head. "Is it your stepdad again." I let out a sigh. "Yeah he lowkey referred to you as a thug." He chuckled, "Better than being called the N word." I gave him a look. "You know I hate that word right?" He smiled, "I know but I'm just saying I could have been called worse." He started the truck and drove off towards the school. "Do you gotta work today?" Phillip asked. "No but I told my parents I was so I didn't have to go home early." He grinned at me, "in that case you wanna hang out at my house after school?" She smiled at him, "I'll think about it." "Please panda?" He begged. "I'll think about." He let out a sigh, "Fine just tell me by lunch." He pulled into the school parking lot and parked at his assigned parking space. He kissed her lips and said, "I hope this changes your mind." "It's definitely helping." She said as she pulled him in for another kiss.

They both got out of the truck and walked into the commons area. They met up with Quan at an empty table. Quan got up and hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. "Hey when do you not have to work this week?" He asked. "Today, Thursday, and Friday but I'm gonna possibly hang out with Phillip today." Phillip smiled at her, "So we're gonna hangout after school?" She rolled her eyes at him, "Maybe." "So you wanna hangout Thursday?" Quan asked. "Yes that sounds cool." "Cool." Quan said. She could tell that Phillip had a problem with it but they weren't dating yet so he couldn't say anything. "You want to walk with me to class or do you want Quan to walk with you?" Phillip asked. "I can walk with both of you. Why you gotta act like it's a competition?" Phillip let out a sigh, "I'm not I was just asking." The bell rang and the three of them walked to the chorus room. When they reached the classroom she hugged Quan bye. When he pulled her in he held her tight. Man he felt so good and damn he smelled good too she thought to herself. He pulled away and she had to pretend like that hug meant nothing.

What was going on with her she thought, she liked Phillip not Quan. Quan was her best friend he couldn't be more than that. Phillip and Miranda walked in class and sat as far as they could in the back together. "So what's going on between you and quon?" Phillip asked. Miranda gave him a look, "Nothing." Phillip said, "Are you sure?" "Yes I'm sure." She lied. To be completely honest she didn't know what was going on and she wasn't gonna say anything until she knew for sure what was really going on. He didn't say anything else but he felt like she wasn't being completely truthful weather if she knew it or not. He really liked Miranda and he might possibly could be falling in love with her. He really didn't want Quon to screw that up. He really couldn't wait to get her alone. He had been thinking about it ever since they had met. He wanted to get to know her more it wasn't just about sex that's not all he wanted with her he wanted more way more and that was a first.

They sat mindlessly in chorus class going over their first project. They were going to be put in groups of two and collaborate on a song. "So what we gonna do?" Phillip asked about the project. "Huh?" She said deep in her thoughts. "What song do you wanna do?" He asked. "What about a prince song?" "Okay what song though?" "Say my name or nothing compares to you." He smiled at her, "Nothing compares to you." She nodded her head, "Okay then less do that then."  Once they got started on the project things went by faster than usual. When the bell rang Phillip walked Miranda to her English class. As they were walking Phillip couldn't help but think about how lucky he was to have this girl in his life. She not only was beautiful but she was sweet, funny, and all around amazing. A girl like her was nearly impossible to find especially in this day in age. He wanted to ask her to be his girl so bad but he didn't know how to he was honestly too scared to.
