The room was dark. So dark that she couldn't even see her own hands so all she could do was reach out aimlessly into the emptiness that was starting to consume her.
Breathe. Breathe.
There was light at the end of the room and Swayam stood there with Ruhi. Ruhi flashing a winning smirk at her.
Swayam dont go. Dont go. Dont.
Stay.
She called out but there was no sound of her voice. Just darkness.
Instead he heard his. Your love is a lie, Sharon.
No.
Sharon woke up with a start. The first thing she did was grope the other side of the bed, only to find it empty. It took her some time before she could accustom herself with her surrounding. She was in his bedroom, he was away on a tour. Just a bad dream. Another one. At least its over, she told herself. Her hands fumbled over the bedside table for water and found her phone instead. 3 AM, she checked the time quickly cringing as the sharp glow of her phone screen hit her eyes. Her right hand ached at the sudden movement. She'd been sleeping on it and it had gone numb owning to her absurd sleep posture.
It was in moments such as this when he missed him the most. Swayam just knew her so much. Much more than she knew herself. He could tell when she was having a nightmare before it could even get to its worst point. He would wake up in the middle of the night anyway, just to check on her; shift her back into a comfortable position so her hands wouldn't have to go numb like it did today.
She lost track of time after that; but when she woke up it was already 9 AM. She had heard Kriya say something about leaving early and taking charge of the class so Sharon could take a day off, but was too sleepy respond anything.
Ughh why aren't you here yet Swayam.
Few more hours, she recalled him saying. And then I'll have you screaming for me.
Sharon sat for few minutes, wearing a goofy smile as she read through yesterday's messages before walking into the washroom.
She was done taking her bath and was drying herself with a white plush towel when she heard the main door outside click. She could tell from the sound of the footfalls that it was him before she heard his voice.
"Sharon?"
She did not respond. Instead, she wrapped the towel around her and stepped out.
"How many times have I told you to keep the main door locked?" he continued, dumping his bag somewhere on the ground and slouching on the couch. "What if someone broke in? You're alone in the house. So irresponsi-"
His voice trailed off as he looked up to face her. She was standing in front of him in a towel. In nothing but a towel, clumsily tucked in the valley of her chest. He could tell the shape of her body from it, and mentally rebuked himself for checking out his own girlfriend like that.
Water dripped from her hair as she walked towards him.
"I was alone. Now you're here with me" she sat on his lap, facing him. "I'm safe."
The wetness from her hair transferred onto his shirt as she grabbed the collars of his denim shirt and pulled his lips onto hers.
"Hey Sharon" Swayam grinned at her when she pulled back to catch her breath.
