Hiccup stared at the grave. The grave that held the memories of the man who raised him. His father. It had only been a few days but Hiccup was hurting. Nightmare after nightmare of that on moment when everything changed. Of course he didn't blame Toothless, but the Night Fury was still on edge around Hiccup. The man held the last thing he had to remember his father by. Stoick's winter coat. You may be thinking, wasn't it burnt in the ceremony. Well his cheiftain coat was, not his winter coat.

From the shadows watched his mother and girlfriend. "He's hurting.". Astrid mumbled. "We all are but he took it harder than anyone else.". She added. At this point, Valka was starting to break. She was trying to hold together for Hiccup's and the villagers sake, but she couldn't. Valka had recently found Hiccup in the cove sitting on a high rock.

Valka's POV
"Hiccup, what are you doing up here.". I asked while moving Cloudjumper closer to the rock." Remembering.". Was his only answer. "I know you miss him, we all do.". Now I was off Cloudjumper and balancing on the rock. "But he was my father. People tell me, I will be fine but-". He was starting break. When I sat down, Hiccup lunged at me. "He was my husband as well.". I commented. "You weren't around, for 20 years.". At this I was slightly hurt. "Yes, best I still loved him. And I still do.". We sat in a awkward silence for awhile. "You know it wasn't his fault right.". I asked seeing the jet black dragon a the foot of the rock. "Yeah.... good dragons under the control of bad people do bad things.". Hiccup recited what I had said to him only a few hours before. "He's not gone Hiccup, he's in here and in Valhalla, watching over you.". I said pointing at his chest.

Normal POV
Astrid and Valka watched as Hiccup slowly got up and made his way back to the village. "We have to talk to him.". Astrid said, worried for her boyfriends health. "No, you have to talk to him. I already tried.". Valka insisted. "Ok I will".

In the village

Hiccup dragged him self into the Great Hall. Vikings upon Vikings lined the walls while there homes were being rebuilt. He found his way over to the head table where Gobber and his friends sat. "Ah, Hiccup. Nice of you show yourself.". Snotlout stated. This scored him a punch in the ribs from Ruffnut. "You feelin' better.". Gobber asked even though he new the answer. "Here, drink this.". He said handing Hiccup a mug of meed. "Uh, I.. I'm good.". "No, come on. It'll get some of the stress out er ya.". "Fine". Hiccup took the mug of meed and slowly, with many different faces, drank it. After about 4 mugs of the stuff, Astrid cam in. "Hey has anyone seen........Hiccup?". She asked spotting him drunk on the table. "Hiccup what are you doing here.". Astrid growled while walking towards him. "What does it look like. I'm letting loose.". Astrid clenched her fists. "You have more important things to attend to.". "Yeah like what.". He said, starting to sway. "Your village, your the chief now. You can't be seen like this. You have to keep yourself together so everyone has someone to look to.". Even in his drunken state, Hiccup was getting very mad. Couldn't he have time to grieve? Couldn't he spend time with friends to let loose? Nope. He had to keep it together for everyone.

"IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT!". Astrid was taken back. "YOU WANT ME TO BE  JUST FINE FOR EVERYONE!?". Astrid had never seen Hiccup like this, she was slightly scared of what he could do. "Hiccup....?". She asked. "You all get to MOURN and CRY! But me? I have to keep it together and just BE OKAY!". Everyone just stared at Hiccup. "You all think you know HOW I FEEL!". At this point, nearly everyone in the hall was staring at Hiccup. "You're not dealing with what I'm dealing with. NONE OF YOU!!". Hiccup had tears streaming down his face. "YOU lost a Chief. I......... I lost...........l lost my dad.". The new chief fell to his knees, crying and sobbing. Astrid took this as a time to get him out of here. "Come on. Let's take you home.". She soothed him while getting Hiccup back on his feet.

The Haddock house was quite. The only thing heard were 2 voices. 1 crying and the other one calming. "Hiccup, I'm so sorry. I should have realised that you needed more time. Valka told me to talk to you and I -". She was cut of by Hiccup whispering," Hold me please.". Not thinking she heard it right. "What was that?". She calmly asked. "Hold me.". Hiccup said, louder this time. Astrid softly smiled and put her hand on Hiccups cheek. "Okay". Hiccup fell into Astrid, crying even harder than before. "Thank you". Hiccup mumbled into her fur hood. "For what?". "For knocking some sense into me.". Astrid giggled slightly. "And for holding me close when no one else would put up with me.".

"Hiccup, I will always be here no matter what.".

Heyyy, okay I'm not gonna sugar coat it. It's been a looooooooong time. I've been sick, as in throwing up everywhere. Problems at school. And most of all a LOT  of writers block. I'm gonna try and get back to my usual update schedule but idk bro idk.

Thank you for sticking with me, even if you didn't. I have released a new book. Go check it out. It's called Alpha's and Beta's. If you liked this and didn't or did break down in tears, please vote and comment. This was inspired by a pin I found called, We didn't set out to be Superhero's.
