Jessica’s
"Jessica!" "Yes mum?!" I shouted back as I pulled off my head phones and paused the music.
"Could you walk the dog dear?" she asked sweetly. Instead of answering I jogged down the stairs and threw on some boots, my jacket and my favorite burgundy beanie, which my brother got me last year for Christmas. "Thanks dear, i have to catch up on a load of work." she explained grimly
"Whatever" I shrugged as I looked for the dog’s leash. "Shaaaane!" a little husky pup ran at full speed towards me, wagging its tiny tail in the process, I love Shane, he's so adorable and well he's a husky. I also really love Shane’s personality, he's really naughty, reminds me of myself sometimes. I attached the leash to his collar and walked out the door but not before I heard my mother call "you're a life saver!" I rolled my eyes and closed the door behind me, popped in my earphones and turned on some Greenday. I decided to take a longer walk than usually today because I really needed some relaxation, Shane obviously didn't mind the slightest, he’s got so much energy in that little body of his.
As we were walking I saw a calf and its mother in a field and turned around so I could watch them better, I got really distracted actually. When I turned back I averted my gaze towards the floor in search of a husky pup, however he wasn't at the end of his leash. Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit! I did an entire 360-degree turn in search of Shane but sadly didn't see him, but just as I was about to finish my turn I caught sight of Shane’s collar on a muddy path that led into the forest. Of coarse. I gripped the collar and reluctantly followed the path. "Shane?" I called several times without receiving an answer. Suddenly I heard a bark, I directed my face towards the sound and caught sight of a little husky pup, oh Shane. "Shane, you don't just run away like that look you got my trousers all muddy, thanks a lot" he just barked in a satisfied tone.
How do we get out of this forest? I lost the path and well I can't seem to see it anywhere, maybe I should just start walking in a direction until I find the path. So I did just that which eventually landed me on a path, which Shane and I followed for several minutes. Ok now we should we on our street- wait where the heck are we.. God dammit! We’re lost. This isn't my street; I’ve never seen this place before. I looked around the cozy looking neighborhood in search of anything that looked familiar but was let down by my lack of recognition. Dammit what do I do now? Should I just keep walking until I find something I recognize... without really thinking about it my feet carried me down the neighborhood, I guess I’m doing just that then. I popped my earphones back in and pressed play on 'holiday' by greenday. As I was silently rocking along to the song Shane stopped by a street sign because he had to pee, I turned around to take a better look at the neighborhood.
Suddenly I felt a not so soft tap on my shoulder, I jumped and pulled out my earphones. I turned around and saw a tall blonde, baby blue eyed boy. I have to say he was gorgeous. Wait why did he tap my shoulder? I saw the annoyance in his eyes and instantly knew I did something wrong
"Uh, you’re dog just peed of me." he said awkwardly. As his beautiful blue eyes avoid contact with my dark brown ones. Wait did he just say Shane peed on him?! Oh darn. "Oh my gosh I’m so so so sorry!" I apologized with wide eyes and my hand in front of my mouth. I really shouldn't have taken my eyes off of Shane after the incident in the forest
"Oh, um well its alright I guess. Are you English?" the boy asked curiously
"Scottish and Swedish actually" then the awkward silence fell over us like a curse.
"Soo. Do you live here? I don't think I’ve ever seen you around" he wondered in his adorable Australian accent, everyone here in Sydney has one, I wish I did, i love the sound of them.
"No I don't I live next to the park"
"WHAT?! That’s really far from here you know, why are you walking your dog that far?" he asked with bewildered eyes. Shit is it really that far as he makes it seem?
"Well uh that’s a funny story really, Shane, my dog kinda got us lost and uh I have no idea where I am..." I awkwardly smiled and looked around.
"Oh, that uh quite unfortunate.." he awkwardly replied and I nodded. Great silence once again. "Do you uh, need a ride home? I mean like you're here and have no idea how to get home and well its gonna rain soon and I just thought it would be polite of me and-"
"Thanks, I’d be happy to accept that offer, but by ride you mean..?" I looked around him to show him I didn't see a car, luckily he understood what I was implying
"Oh wait here, I’ll go get my mum's car" he told me as he passed me gently and walked off. I waited for about 15-20 minutes, which wouldn't have been bad at all if Shane wasn't being so cheeky. That’s when I realized that I had no idea what the boy's name was, or how old he was, or if he was going to kidnap me, or possibly murder me or-
"I’m back" he smiled goofily from his car window "get in?" he said but it came out as more of an insecure question. I nodded and walked over to the passenger seat with Shane in my arms, I wearily opened the door and sat down
"Where should I leave my dog?" I asked quietly
"Just keep him on your lap or something" he shrugged.
That’s when I actually realized I was in a car with a complete stranger.
