I of course wake up late. I have three missed calls from Emily and a dozen new text messages. Not all of them are from Emily though, mostly Shawn. Once I'm fully awake I jump out of bed and into my closet. I grab my pizza crop top and my light washed short overalls. It took a minute to put on my converse though.

Since I'm such a hipster I only buckle one side of the overall. I put my hair in a messy bun before I grab my phone and sunglasses and run out the house.

I barely hesitate to start the car. I plug my phone into the aux and play Demi Lovato. I Really Don't Care by Demi blasts through the radio. I can't help but sing along on my way. At a red light I text Emily and tell her that I'm sorry and that I'm on my way to her office. She replies immediately.

Emily: Nicole seriously you are almost an hour late. I had to rearrange my whole day. But I'll see you there, you better have a good excuse girl. NO TEXTING AND DRIVING.

I can't help but smile at her message. It's like she's my friend but she's my motherly friend. I'm glad I didn't get one of those shrinks that just goes "mhmm" or all they say is "and how does that make you feel". I hate those kind. I decide to replay I Really Don't Care.

But even if the stars and moon collide

I never want you back into my life

You can take your words and all your lies

Oh oh oh I really don't care

Even if the stars and moon collide

I never want you back into my life

You can take your words and all your lies

Oh oh oh I really don't care

Oh oh oh I really don't care

By the time the next Demi song starts I'm in front of Emily's office. Her office is this really big building and she owns a floor in the building. There are a bunch of other people who own floors in this building so it's difficult to find parking.

Out of all the buildings Emily works in this is by far my favorite.

The floor Emily owns just happens to be the top floor so you can see the whole city. Plus, the way she has it decorated is so pretty. It's like a modern chic. I'm talking white walls, black leather seats, and a lot of glass accents.

The lobby of the building is the complete opposite. It screams modern Victorian. It had ceiling accents of flowers or something. The white plush sofas in the waiting area are lined with gold. Instead of having coffee for the waiting people they have tea.

As I step into the elevator I hear someone call from behind me.

"Hold the elevator please!"

I might as well, you know good karma is everything.

The boy who looks no older than eighteen slides into the elevator dropping nearly everything from his hands. The elevator doors close as I help him pick up his paperwork.

He's wearing a gray business suit with a black tie. His suit jacket was unbuttoned and his tie hung loose. He had a brown brief case next to him with the initials S.W.

"Thanks" he breathed.

I looked him in the eye and they were a mesmerizing blue. It was like I was looking at the Caribbean Sea for the first time. He gave me a slight smile. He had perfectly highlighted brown hair.

He stood so I stood.

Shit he knows I was totally checking him out.

I cleared my throat.

"No problem." I said without looking at him. I just stared at my converse.

"If you're here for the job interview you are underdressed." He said with a smirk.

"I'm here to see someone." I said with a small smile.

He's older than you Nicole!

But he's also so hot!

"It's a little late for lunch so I'm sure your boyfriend is busy." He said obviously trying to ask if I had a boyfriend.

This time I laughed.

"Not seeing my boyfriend." I said turning my attention to him.

"What? He doesn't work here?" He said also turning to face me.

"More like he doesn't exists." I said turning back to face the doors.

I hadn't even realized that he had clicked the button for his floor. Good thing I already did because that would be embarrassing.

He must've noticed I was looking at the buttons. He also must know that Dr.Stevens works on the top floor because he's eyes widened.

Here it comes the awkward silence. He realized that there is something wrong with me and that's why I have to see Emily. He has figured that it must be something big because Emily doesn't work here full time.

He let's out a deep sigh.

Yep. There it is. The realization.

Wait a minute. No other floor number is lit up.

He's going to see Dr.Stevens too?

"You're going to lunch with Dr.Stevens?" He asks not as confidently as he was before.

"Yeah." My voice came out as a whisper.

Get. Me. Out. Of. This. Elevator.

The second the elevator doors opened I basically ran out. Okay, it was more of a fast walk. A secretary was furiously typing away on the computer. She looked up as soon as me and Mr.Elevator Guy walked up. She didn't even acknowledge him she looked right at me. "Nicole?" I nodded once. "She's been ready for you for almost an hour." She said with an attitude.

Because I'm a bitch I decide to mess with her in a very cruel way.

"Sorry I was busy trying to kill myself." I said nonchalantly. Her eyes widen and mouth flew open.

"Oh my gosh I'm so -" Emily opened her office door at that exact moment.

"Nicole stop messing with my secretary." She said with a head shake and a stifled laugh.

I just beamed at her "I have no idea what your talking about." Emily just rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry Sam this won't take too long." Emily said over my head. She closed the door behind us. She gave me a big hug.

"So tell me what going on?!"

And I did. I told her everything that happened in the last sox month.

After an hour of talking and eating pizza. I left Emily's office I felt so much better. My awkward encounter with that Sam guy seemed like years ago. I didn't even look at him when I left Emily's.

I'm listening to Catch Me by Demi Lovato when Shawn called. I reluctantly picked up.

"Nicole?" He merely whispered. He sounded tired.

"Yeah? Shawn what's wrong?" I rushed.

"Where are you?" He said still whispering.

"On my way home. Why?" I held the why a little longer to emphasize the question.

"I need you." he breathe.

"I can be at your house in ten minutes."

"Thank you." he replied, his voice still a whisper.

I hung up.

Dammit. Of course something bad had to happen. My day was going way too good.
