"This isn't right, Clyde! How do we explain the incubus to him? He doesn't remember anything!"
"Lyra, would you calm down? I've got this under control! Alex is good for him!"
"Oh, so he can date an incubus but he can't have the one man who made him happy?"
"He could date a whole platoon of goddamn vampires, just not that one!"
"Is this still of Maxime? Maxime who now lives in Hungary where he can't bother anyone anymore?"
"I just don't want him hurt, Ly. You know he's created a mass of vampires? They're the ones behind all these drained bodies! I'm dead sure of it! I want him safe. It's what Aurora would've wanted."
I sucked in a breath at my mother's name.
"Aurora would've wanted him happy. He's in his twenties, you can't control him forever."
I held my breath as Lyra left my room. My power drained body still laid there, but now, I was feigning sleep, listening in on their argument.
This is the second time I've heard 'vampire' and 'incubus' in the same sentence, and frankly, I'm puzzled.
There was no way that these beings were real!
Right?
Clyde sighed, and I felt the bed move a little. He brushed a hand through my hair. "If only you never met him. He ruined our family." He placed a kiss on my forehead.
"Camden, I hope you make a good decision. I'd hate to see you hurt." He whispered, getting off the bed, and leaving my room.
1...2...3...
I heard their bedroom door close, and rushed to my laptop, signing in, and heading to google.
Hmm... how do I put this? I shrugged, and googled 'incubus'.
I scrolled until I found a wikipedia page, and learned my heart away.
I pressed my fingers against my lips. A male, sexual demon who fed off the sexual energy of women, hm?
Well, I am no woman. However, I definitely think that i could be considered a woman victim in this case.
I closed my laptop and set it next to me. I don't really need to look up a vampire, I know about those. My eyes flickered to the books my father left me in my bookcase.
But, there's no way vampires are real! It would be pretty obvious to me if they were a vampire.
My door creaked open, revealing Lyra. "I'm glad you're feeling better! I brought you some cake!" I took the plate in my hands, staring blankly at the double chocolate cake.
Lyra had a plate of her own, and ate next to me. She tried to crack a few jokes, but I was too caught up in my thoughts.
Even this sweet cake tasted unbearably bitter from my head spinning.
