Camden
I was relaxing on the couch with Alistair, playing with my ring, when a hard knock on the door.
"Who do you think it is?" Alistair shrugged. I opened the door, to see two men, both with platinum blond hair and icy blue eyes.
The one with the scar over his eye spoke first. "We are here on order of the council." His eyes flitted over Alistair.
"Word has spread of your engagement, and the council is not happy." He held out his hand, and the one with the muscles handed him an envelope. "The council has demanded your appearance tomorrow, midnight sharp." The envelope was handed to Alistair.
"Nikolai." The muscular one looked down at his watch. "Its time we go." Nikolai gave me a hard glare. "Show up or we'll tie your boyfriend down under the sun and watch him bake."
I nodded, clutching the envelope to my chest. I closed the door once they turned away from us. "I don't understand," I started to open the envelope. "What is The Council? What do they want with us?"
Alistair leaned his head back. "I should've expected this. The Council controls the supernatural world, basically. And there are strict guidelines to ensure our existence isn't revealed to the public. It has one group from each kingdom, The Vampire Kingdom, Werewolf Kingdom, Magicks Kingdom, hell, purgatory, and heaven.
Those two were Nikolai and Dimitri Morozov, reps of purgatory. They don't like me very much."
I stared down at the letter that read:
Dear Alistair,
As representatives of the council, we hereby request your presence at the council's board, at midnight. If you fail to comply, you shall receive consequences.
--The Council"What did we do wrong? What's so bad about our engagement?" Alistair looked away. "Because your family is considered a hunter family, everyone in this damned world puts the spilt blood on your hands."
"Is the council...nice?" He shrugged. The werewolf kings and the vampire kings are pretty nice, as well as the princess of purgatory. If there's anyone you should avoid, its Kaide. He's ruthless and will tear you apart." I gulped.
"Well, this council thing sounds terrifying. "
"They are."
