JIM'S POV:

I walked over to Mom as she stood there, confused and hurt. I haven't seen her this emotionally hurt since I got in trouble with the cop bots 5 years ago. What's that chick's problem?! Hurting my mom's feelings like that. I mean I understand the not liking the affection and all, but damn, it was just a welcoming hug.

"Um Doc? What was all that about? Isn't she your daughter? I didn't hear her say 'Father' or 'Dad' to you once."

Delbert sat down in a nearby chair and groaned in frustration. "I adopted her 17, almost 18 years ago. I should've warned you that she's extremely shy, and she's not too fond with people touching her. Maybe I should tell you both her story..."

Mom sat beside him, while I leaned against the doorway. For some reason, my mind was telling me to follow the girl, but my figure stayed in one place. Besides, I wanna help her out...whatever her name is.

"It all started when I found her. She was a weak, tiny baby. Her brunette hair, shining in the moonlight. Her fragile wails, filling up my mind..." Delbert was getting lost in the detail.

"Delbert...." Mom started to say.

"Oh right, sorry, uh, she was left in a box, with only a blanket, note, and locket." He shortened the story and sighed, getting up and pacing.

"In a few minutes, I was going to tell her the truth and give the items to her for her birthday...but I don't know." He said sadly as he fiddled with a golden locket in his pocket. I could see his hand moving around, and a piece of the locket part was hanging out of his pocket.

My eyes had sudden interest in the necklace. "Doc? Can I see that real quick?" I walked over to him with my hand out, reaching for the jewelry. He hesitated at first, but then gave it to me.

The chain was gold, but that wasn't what I was so interested in. It was the charm. It was something I knew right off the bat.

"Doc, why is it a miniature version of the Treasure Planet map??"

Doc looked up and shrugged. "The note was mysterious as well."

I rose a brow. "Note? Oh yeah yeah the note from when she was a baby?"

He got up and walked over to a nearby bookshelf. His fingers ran across a few books before pulling one out that was called "Algebra". He opened it: there was a box. "I had to hide it in a book that she wouldn't ever touch."

Heh, like me. I'd never, in a million years, willingly pick up a math book.

He got the box then slipped the book back in its place on the shelf. He then gave me the note. "Careful, it's old and fragile."

I nodded. The note read:

Whoever finds her, make sure to avoid the cyborg. I took his child away, because he had no idea what she is. He literally paid a leg and arm for her, but she was already gone. This is what he got for stealing my girl. So I took the most precious thing from him. Besides she's worth money.

"No name?" I looked up after a few minutes.

He shook his head. "Wasn't signed, I thought that was odd too."

I carefully folded the note and gave it back. "'She's worth money.'?" I questioned.

Doc breathed in to steady himself. "(y/n) has powers. Not high intelligence like you, Jim. Real powers, I told your mother about this before we left the Benbow." I glanced at Mom and she nodded. I looked back at doc as he continued. "...Emotion powers, if you will. When she's mad for example, she can produce fire. When she's sad, rain. Scared, ice and so on."

"Does she have anymore? Like more than emotion powers?" Mom asked, interested.

"Not that I know of, but she's been acting strange lately. Always so angry. Producing sparks uncontrollably."

"Well you said before that we were the only ones who know her existence..maybe she's just pissed."

"James!"

"Sorry Mom."

Mom looked at him. "Maybe she's going through something? She's around the same age as James. He was the same way. Always mad and getting in trouble."

"Jim, Mom. Jim, and have you forgotten that I'm 20?"

"Fine. JIM was the same way, and no I haven't. She's turning 18 soon, that's only a 2 year difference."

I pushed myself off of the doorway and crossed my arms, grumbling because she was right. "Then I met Silver, B.E.N., and Morph. It changed the way I saw people and life."

Mom stood up and smiled. "Point is, (y/n) needs a friend. She needs a companion to show her around."

Delbert put his hands against his face and swayed back and forth, thinking. After a few minutes, he stood up and handed me the necklace and note. "I hope you enjoy making new friends, Jim. I am terribly sorry for putting you through this, but I can't....I just want her to know the truth..but honestly....I'm scared of her and what she can do."

I nodded and gulped. What she can do....what can she do?? I mean, I know he said ice, fire, and rain, but that can't be everything..! Sounds like some nature freak or something. I turned around, finally obeying my mind's orders. I breathed in. I just hope not to get burned to death!

Hopefully...
