Getting in the Grind

We walked down the road until we reached the forest. I looked over the paper Violet handed me. It had a picture of the flower, the amount needed, and the monsters that eat it. I start collecting the flower and Rea looked over the quest.

"So it's just a simple herb collection mission. This will be easy as long as we don't encounter the predator of the monster that eats it." I stop to count how many I collected.

"What eats the...soft bone rabbit? Please don't say Scar wolves." I finish counting and moved further into the forest.

"It's not, don't be ridiculous, these are Razor Wolves. But you don't have to worry they hunt much deeper in the forest. You have to be really unlucky to find them." Just then, as I was picking my last flower, we heard the sound of growls come from in front of us.

Razor Wolves emerged from the in front and on all sides. I couldn't help but think that Rea jinxed us. Rea moved in closer to me.

"Rea what are you doing aren't you going to help me fight?" I looked at her nervously as they began to circle.

"Sorry kid but UUUUH!!" A wolf jumps over our heads. "My magic is only healing and support. I can make it harder for you to be killed but I can't help you fight off a pack of wolves." I almost felt like it over but I thought of a way to do it.

"If you have any kind of buffs use them on me!" I start to feel invigorated. I was glowing blue and yellow. That's when I activated [Fatal Instinct].

I charged the wolves and cut one in half with my katana. I kick one into a tree and slung the leader deeper into the forest by his tail.

"AAAAAHH!!" Rea screamed as a wolf pounced at her but I tackled it sending it flying to a large tree and then grabbed Rea's hand. I picked her up and ran out of the forest as fast I could and didn't stop until the buffs stopped.

"Rei did I ever tell you're my favorite trainee."

"I'm the only person you're training. Can you... sing again to... erase my fatigue." She started to sing and like last time I began to feel better. This is probably her best ability in my opinion.

"Okay if you're better let's turn this into the guildhall and get some money for you to get a room." She manage to hold on to the flowers in all that. I would find it more impressive if I wasn't the one who had to fight our way out.

"Hello Ms.Violet, I've finished the quest."

"Oh my, What happened to you Mr.Ryugamine? This was just a collection quest yet you look so tathered." I look and notice that I had a few scratches that were still healing and my shirt was shredded. I must not have notice the damage fighting the wolves.

"These, I just had a little trouble while collecting the flowers. It's okay Rea healed me so I should be good." I hand her the bag with a bit of a smile.

"A little?! There were four Razor Wolves we could have died!!" Rea bursting in which seemed weird for her to do.

"I'm surprised you survived at level one. It must be luck."

"Well maybe luck had some part, But it's mostly due to me reaching level two and Rea's support Buffs." She looked at Rea for a second.

"How many did she use?"

"Two, three counting the healing song,why?"

"It's a guild rule that you can only receive one spell per level. So at level two she could only use two spells on you."

"It's okay he was almost at level 3 he just needed a little more strength stat!"

"Okay then let me see." She pricked my finger, I guess every body keeps a knife handy for this sort of thing. She dropped the blood on a card." Wow, only been here for a day and are almost level 5! It normally takes atleast 2 weeks! The fight with the wolves pushed you a lot." Rea pulled the card away from her faster than the eye could see.
